Hyderabad, Telangana — In a scathing critique, BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao has dismissed Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s Musi padayatra in Nalgonda as a mere “political stunt” intended to divert public attention from Congress’s longstanding failure to address the Musi River’s neglect and the woes of affected families in Hyderabad.

Rama Rao urged Revanth Reddy to meet the families in Hyderabad whose homes face demolition due to the Musi River Rejuvenation project, rather than holding rallies far from the affected areas. “Your padayatra is like placing the medicine far from the wound. The victims of your Musi project are in Hyderabad, while you march in Nalgonda,” he criticized, asserting that Reddy’s actions have displaced thousands of families under the guise of development.

Blaming successive Congress and Telugu Desam governments for polluting the Musi River over six decades, he said, “Instead of addressing their concerns, the Chief Minister is planning a displacement of families while organizing a march far away from those impacted.”

Rama Rao accused Revanth Reddy of focusing on “commissions over commitments” and spending days discussing the Musi project with consultants while failing to fulfill promises made in the election manifesto. “This padayatra is like shedding crocodile tears. If you truly cared, you would apologize to the farmers and directly engage with those suffering from your policies.”

In addition, Rama Rao condemned recent police action against BRS leaders and workers, who were reportedly detained or placed under house arrest in advance of the Chief Minister’s padayatra. Among those detained were former MLAs K. Prabhakar Reddy and Chirumarthi Lingaiah. Rama Rao demanded their immediate release, asserting that Congress has adopted a strategy of stifling opposition voices through arrests to avoid scrutiny on issues of corruption and unmet promises.

“Leadership is about building, not tearing down. If you can’t govern, step aside. The people of Telangana deserve better,” Rama Rao concluded.
