Leopard Presence Sparks Concerns in Vikarabad District: Warning Issued

0

In Vikarabad district, the picturesque Anantagiri Hills, often referred to as the ‘Ooty of Telangana,’ is now the center of attention due to recent leopard sightings, raising alarms among government officials and locals.

On November 7, officials on election duty reported a leopard crossing the road near Anantagiri Hills. The Department of Forests was promptly notified, initiating concerns about the big cat’s presence in the region.

The apprehension escalated on the morning of November 9 when a leopard was sighted in the Gudur and Gudupalle mango groves, approximately ten kilometers from Vikarabad. Farmers in the area recounted a close encounter as the leopard attempted to pounce while they operated an electric motor for irrigation.

Additional reports from the Gudum area, on the opposite side of Anantagiri Hills, indicated a leopard escaping with a goat from a herd of 100. The owner, Shankaraiah, clarified that he didn’t witness the incident but received information from others.

The uncertainty persists regarding the number and species of big cats in the area, with concerns growing over potential encounters with leopards or cheetahs.

A heightened state of alert prevails as forest department officials and patrols intensify efforts to locate and manage the leopards in Vikarabad district. Villagers are on edge following a recent incident where a leopard attempted to snatch a calf in the Pudur area, though villagers successfully scared it away.

In response to the unfolding situation, the Forest Department of Vikarabad district, on November 12, installed warning boards along key roads in Anantagiri Hills. Travelers are advised to exercise caution, especially during the holiday season when the region attracts a significant number of tourists.

To prioritize public safety, temporary restrictions have been imposed on entry into the jungle areas of Anantagiri Hills. Visitors are required to obtain permission before venturing into these areas, adding an extra layer of precaution amid the prevailing uncertainty about the big cats’ presence.

Congress Hits Back at BJP’s Allegations on Rajasthan Campaigning

0

In a strong rebuttal to the BJP’s claims of a lackluster campaign in Rajasthan, the Congress responded on Sunday, asserting that its top leaders are intensifying efforts in the state. K.C. Venugopal, Congress General Secretary, Organisation, criticized what he termed as “BJP-sponsored propaganda” and highlighted the extensive campaigning undertaken by Congress leaders in various states.

Venugopal stated, “A section of the BJP-sponsored propaganda driven media is spreading canards about our top leadership’s activity in Rajasthan.” He pointed out that Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi have conducted multiple campaigns in Rajasthan, MP, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, and Mizoram.

To counter the BJP’s allegations, Venugopal provided a detailed schedule of upcoming campaign activities in Rajasthan. “From 16 November onwards, Kharge ji will be in Rajasthan for 3 days, Rahul ji will have public events spanning 4 days, and Priyanka ji will also be campaigning for 3 days,” he announced.

Highlighting the alleged selective reporting by the media, Venugopal criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not campaigning in Mizoram and questioned the silence surrounding this issue. He emphasized the commitment of the Congress leaders to Rajasthan, stating, “it is extremely unethical and mischievous that these pre-meditated hit jobs cast aspersions on our unflinching commitment towards Rajasthan.”

Venugopal underscored Rahul Gandhi’s extensive engagement with the people of Rajasthan, recalling, “Rahul ji walked for 18 days across Rajasthan during the Bharat Jodo Yatra – one of the longest stretches of the Yatra.” He attributed the Congress’s vision and guarantees for the upcoming elections to Rahul Gandhi’s conversations with the people of Rajasthan, especially the poor, youth, and marginalized.

Closing his statement, Venugopal expressed confidence in the Congress’s victory, declaring, “Our entire party, right from the booth level to the Congress President, is working unitedly to ensure our government is repeated in Rajasthan.” The Congress aims for a second consecutive term in the state and has already announced seven guarantees. The polling for the 200-member Assembly is scheduled on November 25, with vote counting slated for December 3.

India Joins Global Consensus Condemning Israeli Settlements in Palestine at UN.

0

On November 9, India stood firmly with 144 other nations, voting in favor of a United Nations resolution condemning Israeli settlements in the ‘Occupied Palestinian Territory.’ The resolution, titled “Israeli settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and the occupied Syrian Golan” (document A/C.4/78/L.15), garnered widespread support as 18 countries abstained.

Trinamool national spokesperson Saket Gokhale expressed satisfaction with India’s stance, stating, “Very glad that Republic of India voted in favor of the resolution. Israel’s occupation of Palestine through settlers is ILLEGAL. Israel’s apartheid must end NOW.” Gokhale shared this sentiment on social media, highlighting the gravity of Israel’s actions in the region.

However, the voting session revealed a significant divide, with seven countries casting dissenting votes. The United States, Canada, Hungary, Israel, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, and Nauru opposed the resolution. The UN committee’s statement emphasized condemnation for settlement activities, land confiscation, disruption of livelihood, forced civilian transfer, and annexation. The resolution specifically targets the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and the occupied Syrian Golan.

The recorded vote of 145 in favor to 7 against (with 18 abstentions) underscores the global community’s collective call for an end to the contentious Israeli settlements. The resolution signifies international discontent with the ongoing situation and reaffirms the UN’s commitment to addressing issues of occupation and territorial disputes.

This diplomatic move comes in the wake of India’s earlier abstention from voting on a UN resolution advocating for a truce in Gaza. India’s decision, motivated by a lack of condemnation for Hamas, drew criticism from some quarters. The resolution, proposed by Jordan, saw 120 votes in favor, 14 against, and 45 abstentions. India’s abstention was clarified by New Delhi, citing a consistent stance against terrorism, insisting that terrorists, including Hamas, must be unequivocally condemned.

The last day for filing nominations saw a rush, with nearly half of the candidates—2,324, to be precise—submitting their papers in all 119 Assembly constituencies.

Since November 3, a total of 5,716 sets of nominations have been received by electoral officers. Notably, a majority of these candidates are running as independents. Chief Electoral Officer Vikas Raj reported that scrutiny of the nominations is scheduled for November 13, and candidates have until November 15 to withdraw their nominations.

The constituency with the highest number of candidates vying for a seat is Gajwel, where Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao seeks re-election for a third consecutive term. A whopping 145 candidates have filed nominations in Gajwel, making it a closely watched battleground. In this constituency, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) president faces competition from BJP’s Eatala Rajender, also contesting from Huzurabad.

Chief Minister KCR is expanding his electoral presence by also contesting from Kamareddy, where a total of 92 candidates have filed nominations. The race in Kamareddy is heightened by the presence of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president A. Revanth Reddy.

Medchal, where Labour Minister Malla Reddy is contesting as a BRS candidate, saw 116 candidates filing their papers. However, Narayanpet constituency in Mahabubnagar district witnessed a relatively low participation with only 13 candidates in the fray. Similarly, Wyra (ST) in Khammam and Makthal in Narayanpet districts saw 19 candidates each filing their nominations.

As the electoral landscape unfolds, the scrutiny on November 13 and subsequent withdrawals by November 15 will determine the final list of candidates for the upcoming Telangana Assembly elections.

ये तस्वीर बेहद पीड़ादायी है। ऐसा शख़्स जिसने देश के गरीब बच्चों को एक उम्मीद दी, क्या उसके साथ ऐसा अन्याय सही है? : Kejriwal

In a poignant moment captured by Arvind Kejriwal, the convener of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Chief Minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia was photographed hugging his wife as he left his house after a brief visit. Kejriwal questioned the appropriateness of treating someone unfairly who had offered hope to the nation’s impoverished youth. The tweet emphasized the ‘painful’ nature of the moment.

Manish Sisodia, the former Deputy Chief Minister, was granted permission by a city court to visit his sick wife, Seema, who suffers from multiple sclerosis. The visit took place on Saturday and was sanctioned for six hours, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This emotional meeting comes amidst Sisodia’s legal troubles. In February of this year, he was taken into custody by the CBI on suspicion of involvement in a spirits fraud. Currently held in Tihar jail under judicial custody, Sisodia was permitted by the Delhi High Court to meet his spouse at home in June. However, his plans were thwarted as his wife’s health deteriorated, leading to her hospitalization in the emergency department of Lok Nayak Hospital. Despite the setback, the poignant image of Sisodia bidding farewell to his wife speaks volumes about the challenges he faces.

Congress Spokesperson Palwai Sravanthi Joins Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) After Resignation

0

HYDERABAD: Palwai Sravanthi, a prominent Congress leader and spokesperson from Telangana, officially joined the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on Sunday, following her resignation from the Congress party. Sravanthi’s departure from Congress came after being denied a ticket to contest in the upcoming Assembly elections.

BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao welcomed Sravanthi into the party at a ceremony held at the BRS headquarters, Telangana Bhavan.

Expressing her sentiments, Sravanthi, the daughter of senior Congress leader Palwai Goverdhan Reddy, mentioned that leaving the Congress was a difficult decision. However, she recalled her late father’s advice that one should not stay where they do not receive respect.

Sravanthi had previously contested as the Congress candidate from Munugode constituency in a by-election last year. This by-election was triggered by the resignation of sitting MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy, who later contested as a BJP candidate and lost to the BRS candidate.

In her letter to Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, Sravanthi criticized the party’s direction, particularly highlighting concerns about the impact of importing Revanth Reddy into the party on its values and principles.

K. Prabhakar Reddy, the BRS candidate who won the bypoll, was present during Sravanthi’s induction into the party. KTR expressed regret over the Congress’s failure to accord due respect to Sravanthi, considering her father’s long-standing service to the party, dating back to the times of Jawaharlal Nehru.

KTR also raised questions about the reasons behind Rajagopal Reddy’s departure from Congress, joining the BJP, triggering the by-election, and subsequently returning to the Congress party.
