BRS Leader Kavitha Slams BJP’s Amit Shah as “King of Lies” during Telangana Poll Rally

0

Hyderabad : In a fiery speech at a poll rally in Korutla, BRS MLC K Kavitha took aim at Union Home Minister Amit Shah, dubbing him “Abaddala Shah” (king of lies). The rally, held about 165 km from Hyderabad, witnessed Kavitha asserting that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s family extends beyond the immediate four members to encompass the entire populace of Telangana—four crore people.

Questioning the BJP’s promises, Kavitha highlighted the contradiction between the Central government’s sale of public sector units (PSUs) and the BJP’s pledge to reopen sugar factories in Telangana. She specifically targeted Amit Shah, proposing a name change to “Abaddala Bashah” in light of what she perceives as his untruthful statements. Kavitha challenged the credibility of the BJP’s commitment to reopening the sugar factory in Korutla, particularly in the context of broader PSU disinvestments.

The BRS leader further addressed the accusations made by various leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, regarding the governance of KCR’s family. Rejecting the notion of a limited family influence, Kavitha emphasized that the KCR-led government represents a family of four crore Telangana people. She staunchly defended the administration, asserting that, unlike the Congress era, the BRS government has maintained peace and tranquility in Telangana over the past decade, dispelling any comparisons to past instances of riots.

CBI Probes Cash-for-Query Allegations Against Mahua Moitra; Questions Surrounding Lokpal Referral and Lack of Transparency

0

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is reportedly examining a complaint forwarded by the Lokpal, implicating Trinamool Congress’s Lok Sabha member Mahua Moitra in a cash-for-query scandal. BJP MP Nishikant Dubey initiated the allegations, leading to the Lokpal’s referral of the case to the CBI for investigation.

Moitra is accused of sharing her Parliament login and password with businessman Darshan Hiranandani, enabling him to post questions on her behalf. Dismissing the claims, Moitra labeled them a “pre-fixed match by a kangaroo court.”

While the Ethics Committee of Lok Sabha adopted a draft report on November 9, recommending Moitra’s expulsion for “unethical conduct” and “serious misdemeanours,” dissenting voices from the Opposition criticized the inquiry’s speed and propriety.

Moitra, in an interview with The Indian Express, admitted to providing her login credentials to Hiranandani but vehemently denied accepting any cash from him, contrary to the allegations made by complainant Jai Anant Dehadrai.

However, concerns have been raised about the lack of transparency in the investigation process. Neither Lok Pal nor the CBI has officially released any information, leading to skepticism about the authenticity of the probe. Moitra herself took to Twitter, questioning the absence of an uploaded referral order on the Lok Pal website, as required by the Lokpal Act. She also highlighted the lack of official statements from the CBI, emphasizing the reliance on “sources” and criticizing it as a typical media circus.

In her tweet, Mahua expressed hope that the ₹13,000 crore Adani coal scam would merit a CBI Preliminary Enquiry (PE) before what she perceives as a witch hunt against her. The tweet underscores her concerns about the selective attention given to different cases and the need for a fair and unbiased investigation.

IRELAND BURNING: Anti-Immigration Riots Erupt in Dublin Following Knife Attack

0

A knife attack in Dublin that left five people, including three young children, injured has led to anti-immigration riots in the city center. The incident occurred on Thursday, prompting a heated response from about 50 anti-immigrant protesters who briefly breached police barriers. Shouting slogans like “get them out,” the crowd escalated, with some individuals damaging property and attacking a hotel housing migrants.

Police Struggle to Control Violence

Riot police were dispatched to the scene, but the situation spiraled out of control as the crowd grew larger, throwing objects and fireworks. A hotel accommodating migrants also faced an attack during the unrest. Despite efforts to restore order, the violence persisted until around 9 pm.

Uncertainty Surrounds Motive and Nationality of Attacker

While a man is in police custody, authorities have not disclosed his nationality. Police Commissioner Drew Harris emphasized that all lines of inquiry related to the knife attack remain open, contradicting earlier statements suggesting the incident was not terrorism-related. Harris urged caution in speculating about motives, emphasizing the need to keep an open mind.

Ireland’s Immigration Landscape and Recent Legislation

The backdrop of the riots involves heightened immigration to Ireland, with net migration reaching its second-highest level on record. The influx includes around 100,000 Ukrainian refugees following Russia’s invasion. Ireland’s Justice Minister, Helen McEntee, condemned the rioters as “thugs” and emphasized that recent legislation allows up to 12 years in prison for those attacking police or emergency workers.

Government Response and Criticism of Rioters

Justice Minister McEntee dismissed claims that the riots were linked to immigration or far-right protests, attributing the violence to a group of “thugs” exploiting the tragic stabbing incident. She criticized the violence as criminal acts and pledged strong responses from the police. The government is now reviewing security around parliament following recent incidents that trapped members during protests.

Unprecedented Rioting in Dublin

The scale of the rioting is described as almost unprecedented in Dublin, where there are no far-right parties or elected politicians. The situation has raised concerns about the emergence of anti-immigrant sentiments, even as the government grapples with managing protests and securing public spaces.

Priyanka Gandhi Declares KCR Government “Past Its Expiry Date” in Warangal Rally

0

Hyderabad : In a scathing critique of the KCR government in Telangana, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra declared on Friday that the government is past its expiry date. Addressing an election rally at Palakurthi constituency in Warangal district, she accused the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government of betraying the hopes of the people who elected them 10 years ago.

“The government has done injustice at all levels and has passed its expiry date,” claimed Priyanka Gandhi, asserting that a Congress wave is sweeping the state.

Allegations of Corruption and Unfulfilled Promises

Priyanka Gandhi urged the people to vote out the government, accusing it of large-scale corruption and failure to fulfill promises made to the public. The Congress leader highlighted the looting of thousands of crores of public money by those in power. She expressed disappointment that the youth, who had hopes of getting jobs when the new state was created, were betrayed by the government.

“The youth worked hard for exams to get jobs, but question paper leaks destroyed their future, and many of them committed suicide,” she lamented. Priyanka Gandhi promised that if Congress is voted to power, they will provide 2 lakh government jobs to the youth in Telangana, as demonstrated in Rajasthan.

Congress’ Vision for Telangana’s Youth and Students

Addressing the issue of unemployment, Priyanka Gandhi emphasized that Telangana has one of the highest unemployment rates in the country. She announced that the Congress will release a job calendar, specifying exam dates, results, and job notices. The party envisions empowering the youth and helping them stand on their feet.

“If voted to power, Congress will give Rs 5 lakh each for students’ education, establish schools with international standards in every district, and provide financial assistance of Rs 2,500 per month to women affected by price rise,” she promised. Priyanka Gandhi also pledged to make cooking gas cylinders available for Rs 500 and allow free travel in RTC buses for women, drawing a parallel with the benefits provided to her “sisters in Karnataka.”

Forest Department Takes Action to Mitigate Human-Elephant Conflicts

0

Hassan District – Karnataka : In a bid to address the longstanding issue of human-elephant conflicts in the Sakaleshpur-Alur taluk region, the Forest Department has initiated the installation of radio collars on nine elephants. The ongoing operation, which began recently and will continue until December 15, involves a team of tamed elephants, mahouts, and kawadis from the Dubare elephant camp in Kodagu.

The preparations for this operation had faced a temporary setback a few months ago following a tragic incident where sharpshooter Venkatesh lost his life during the operation. Now, with renewed efforts, the Forest Department aims to tackle the persistent issue that has plagued the district for decades.

High-Level Meeting Addresses Forest-Related Issues

Forest-related problems, resulting in numerous fatalities, have been a cause for concern in the district. In the past year alone, 65 people lost their lives due to forest attacks. Seeking a comprehensive solution, a high-level meeting of forest officials was convened at Aranya Bhavan in the city. The meeting, chaired by Forest Minister Ishwar Khandre, discussed strategies to address the ongoing human-elephant conflicts.

Permission Granted for Radio Collars Amidst Farmer Advocacy

Permission has been granted to fit radio collars on nine elephants, divided into separate groups in Alur, Sakaleshpura, and Belur. The operation aims to alleviate the concerns of farmers and residents grappling with the persistent problem. While the installation of radio collars may not completely resolve the issue, it is expected to enhance preventive measures by informing local residents about the elephants’ whereabouts.

Farmers and coffee growers in the region, who have suffered losses due to forest-related incidents, have been advocating for government action. Their demands include suitable compensation and relinquishing approximately three thousand acres of land dedicated to agriculture and horticulture.

Operation Coverage and Call for Cooperation

The operation will cover Alur, Belur, Sakaleshpura, Yasalur, and Arakalagudu zones. The Deputy Conservator of Forests urged farmers and the public to cooperate during the designated period. Hassan DFO Mohan stated, “Preparations have been made for the installation of radio collars on nine elephants. The elephants that were identified earlier have been re-identified, and precautions have been taken to prevent a recurrence of the previous incident.”

Sakaleshpur MLA Cement Manju expressed, “People were outraged by the problem of deforestation. As an MLA, I drew the attention of the government. Previously, only one or two elephants were given permission to wear radio collars. This time nine elephants have been given permission.”

Mayawati Criticizes Telangana’s KCR-Led Sarkar for Neglecting Dalit Community

0

In a scathing critique, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) national president Mayawati lambasted the Telangana government led by KCR for neglecting the Dalit community. Speaking at a public meeting in Peddapalli town as part of the Telangana Assembly election campaign, Mayawati accused the government of offering mere lip service to Dalits, emphasizing a focus on vote securing rather than genuine political empowerment.

Mayawati underscored the pivotal role of B.R. Ambedkar’s Constitution in providing education, employment, and political opportunities for oppressed communities. She asserted that if the BSP comes to power, it will ensure justice and opportunities for all classes. The former Uttar Pradesh chief minister criticized the Telangana government for limiting attention to reservation in banks while neglecting broader issues of education, employment, and political representation.

Highlighting B.R. Ambedkar’s vision for social justice and equal opportunities, Mayawati called for the nationwide implementation of Mandal Commission recommendations. She praised the efforts of Kanshi Ram in advocating for reservations in education and employment for socially and economically disadvantaged groups. The BSP leader expressed concern over the absence of reservations in the private sector nationwide, accusing both the Congress and BJP of failing to deliver justice to marginalized communities.

Mayawati specifically pointed out struggles faced by various groups in Telangana under the KCR-led government, criticizing alleged discrimination against Dalits. Advocating for policies that address the concerns of all communities, she called for reservation policies in the private sector, citing successful implementation during her tenure in Uttar Pradesh. Mayawati urged people not to vote for the ruling party in the upcoming elections, emphasizing BSP’s commitment to empowering socially and economically backward classes.

BSP state president R.S. Praveen Kumar echoed Mayawati’s sentiments, urging voters to defeat the ruling party in the coming elections. He alleged that KCR looted Telangana, which was formed with the sacrifices of martyrs.

Home Voting Underway in Telangana as Election Commission Introduces Novel Categories

0

Hyderabad : In a groundbreaking move, home voting is currently in progress for three specific voter categories in Telangana’s Assembly elections, as confirmed by Chief Electoral Officer Vikas Raj on Thursday. The provision is extended to three categories: senior citizens aged 80 and above, Persons with Disabilities (PwD), and essential services personnel.

As of November 22, a total of 9,386 voters aged 80 and above, along with 5,022 PwD voters, have utilized this facility.
