Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Unveils Initial Guarantees for Implementation on December 9

0

In a significant move, the newly-formed Congress government in Telangana, led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, is set to initiate the implementation of two out of the six guarantees promised to the public. This decision was formalized during the inaugural Cabinet meeting held at the State Secretariat.

Minister D. Sridhar Babu, addressing the media after the Cabinet session, disclosed that the guarantees involving free travel for women in TSRTC buses and an expansion of Rajiv Aarogyasri health insurance coverage to Rs 10 lakh would be enforced starting December 9. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is slated to convene a meeting with officials from the respective departments to oversee the execution of these two assurances.

For the remaining guarantees, the government intends to collect pertinent data from the concerned departments, ensuring a comprehensive implementation plan. Minister Sridhar Babu emphasized the government’s steadfast commitment to fulfilling all six guarantees within the first 100 days.

Assurances outlined in the party manifesto, beyond the initial guarantees, are earmarked for fulfillment over the five-year term. During the Cabinet deliberations, the state’s financial status took center stage, prompting directives for officials to furnish detailed reports on allocations and expenditures across all departments from 2014 to 2023. A forthcoming white paper on state finances aims to provide transparent insights to the public.

The Cabinet also delved into the power sector, issuing directives to ensure uninterrupted 24-hour power supply to all sectors, particularly agriculture. Discussions touched upon the previous government’s alleged lack of planning in the power sector. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is scheduled to conduct a comprehensive review meeting on the power sector this Friday.

In a related decision, newly-elected MLAs are slated to take their oath of office on December 9, coinciding with the birthday of senior party leader Sonia Gandhi.

Hyderabad : Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy embarked on a visit to Delhi on Friday to engage in discussions with Congress leaders regarding the allocation of portfolios to ministers and the expansion of his Cabinet.

After being sworn in as Chief Minister and participating in several events, Reddy departed for the national capital via a special aircraft from Begumpet Airport.

During his visit, he is scheduled to hold talks with AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, and other senior leaders to finalize the portfolios for the 11 ministers who took the oath with him the previous day.

The expansion of the Cabinet will also be on the agenda during his discussions with the central leadership. The names of six ministers are expected to be confirmed in the coming days.

The state has a maximum capacity of 18 ministers, including the Chief Minister, and there are various demands for ministerial berths. The Congress leadership is particularly focused on ensuring representation for those sections that may have been overlooked.

With no Muslim candidates elected in the recent Assembly elections, the party is considering the inclusion of one or two Muslim representatives, potentially nominating them to the Legislative Council. Among those under consideration are senior leader Mohammed Ali Shabbir and TPCC working president Mohammed Azharuddin.

Shabbir Ali, a former minister in the united Andhra Pradesh Cabinet, lost the election from Nizamabad Urban, while Azharuddin faced defeat in the Jubilee Hills constituency.

There are also appeals to accommodate senior leaders like former minister Jeevan Reddy, Madhu Yaskhi Goud, and Jagga Reddy, who were unsuccessful in their Assembly election bids.

Despite winning 64 seats in the 119-member Assembly, the Congress party’s newly-elected MLAs make up the entirety of the sworn-in ministers. Several other MLAs are strong contenders for Cabinet positions.

The party is expected to prioritize communities and regions that were not adequately represented in the initial Cabinet formation. The central leadership will play a crucial role in deciding the portfolios to be assigned to the incoming ministers.

Vikarabad/ Telangana : In a chilling revelation, the Tandur police have detained a serial killer, identified as Kisthappa, who has admitted to kidnapping and murdering at least seven women. The psychopath targeted his victims by promising them jobs before carrying out the gruesome acts.

The investigation took a crucial turn when the family of the seventh victim, who went missing on November 29, 2023, lodged a complaint. CCTV footage revealed the victim in conversation with Kisthappa, leading to his swift apprehension by the police.

Hailing from Peddemul town in the Vikarabad district, Kisthappa initially claimed innocence, stating he only spoke to the victim. However, his inconsistent answers raised suspicion, prompting a thorough investigation that ultimately led to his shocking confession.

DSP Shekar Goud disclosed that Kisthappa’s modus operandi involved luring victims, particularly women employed in labor addas, with promises of employment. Subsequently, he would carry out the murders in secluded areas, robbing the victims of their gold chains, anklets, or cash. The accused callously dumped the lifeless bodies in deserted locations to evade capture.

The latest victim was taken to a forest, where Kisthappa confessed to strangulating her with a saree. In addition to taking the victim’s life, he stole cash and silver anklets before making his escape. The police are now working diligently to gather more details about the extent of Kisthappa’s heinous crimes.

Government Imposes Ban on Onion Exports Until March 2024 to Stabilize Domestic Prices

0

New Delhi, Dec 8 – Responding to the need for stabilizing domestic onion prices, the Indian government has taken decisive action by prohibiting onion exports until March 31, 2024. The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) made the announcement through a notification, stating that the export policy for onions has been amended from free to prohibited during this period.

Export Prohibition with Exceptions:

While the ban is in effect, the DGFT clarified that onion exports may still be allowed based on specific permissions granted by the government to other countries upon their request. Additionally, shipments of onions that had already commenced loading before the issuance of this notification are permitted to be exported.

Special Considerations:

In cases where shipping bills have been filed, and vessels have already berthed and anchored in Indian ports for loading onions, with rotation numbers allocated before this notification, these shipments are also exempted from the export ban.

Previous Measures to Control Prices:

This move follows the government’s earlier imposition of a minimum export price of $800 per metric tonne, which was effective until December 31, 2023. The aim of these measures is to discourage exports and mitigate the impact of soaring onion prices in the domestic market.

As the government takes proactive steps to ensure the availability and affordability of onions within the country, this export ban signifies a strategic effort to manage the onion market and prevent potential price escalation.
