Watch the Video: Experience the unexpected landing and see how passengers safely disembarked on the frozen river.

Moscow: In an unusual incident, a Soviet-era Antonov-24 aircraft, carrying 30 passengers, made an unintended landing on a frozen river near an airport in Russia’s far east. Transport prosecutors have attributed the incident to pilot error.

The Polar Airlines An-24 executed a safe landing on the frozen Kolyma river near Zyryanka in the Yakutia region, as reported by prosecutors. According to a spokesperson for the Eastern Siberian transport prosecutor, the preliminary investigation indicates that the aviation mishap resulted from an error by the crew in piloting the aircraft.

Prosecutors have released images of the aircraft situated on the frozen river, while Izvestia newspaper has published pictures of passengers disembarking from the plane.

Polar Airlines acknowledged the incident in a brief statement, mentioning, “The An-24 aircraft landed outside of the runway of the Zyryanka airport.” Fortunately, there were no casualties reported.

The incident serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by pilots, especially in adverse weather conditions, and highlights the importance of precise navigation and adherence to established procedures during flights. Investigations into the exact circumstances of the pilot error are likely to follow.

Qatar Appeals Court Grants Partial Relief: Commutes Death Sentence for Eight Former Indian Navy Personnel

0

New Delhi: In a notable development, an appellate court in Qatar has provided some relief to eight Indian Navy veterans, commuting their death sentences. The Ministry of External Affairs acknowledged the court’s decision in the Dahra Global case, noting a reduction in the severity of the sentences. However, the ministry refrained from specifying the extent of the relief, awaiting a detailed judgment.

The sensitive nature of the case prompted the ministry to exercise discretion, refraining from offering further comments at this juncture. It assured continued collaboration with the legal team and family members to navigate the next steps.

This development comes as a diplomatic win for India, especially following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s discussions on the well-being of the Indian community in Qatar during his meeting with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, on December 1.

The eight Indian nationals, affiliated with Doha-based Al Dahra Global Technologies, faced arrest in August 2022 over an alleged espionage case. Although the specific charges were not disclosed by Qatari authorities, they were initially sentenced to death by Qatar’s Court of First Instance in October of the same year.

India promptly appealed the death sentence to the Court of Appeal in Qatar last month, with the Indian Ambassador and officials present during the recent court proceedings alongside the family members.

The ministry’s statement underscored ongoing support for the individuals involved, committing to provide consular and legal assistance. Positive responses have been received from political parties, former diplomats, security experts, and others.

Former Navy spokesperson D K Sharma expressed cautious optimism, stating, “This is great news, but this is the first step. The final aim is to bring them home, and we are hoping and praying for that.” Sharma highlighted the potential use of legal provisions and the bilateral agreement on sentenced persons between India and Qatar to facilitate the return of the veterans.

While the commutation of the death sentence marks a significant milestone, Sharma cautioned against premature expectations of an immediate release, emphasizing the likelihood of a sequential process that may take time. The 2015 agreement between India and Qatar facilitates the transfer of sentenced persons, provided certain conditions are met, including the absence of pending criminal proceedings and the finality of the judgment.

Hyderabad : In a strongly worded statement, former MLA Eatala Rajender addressed recent rumors suggesting his association with the Congress party. Rajender asserted that the information circulating about his potential shift to Congress is nothing but a calculated mischief orchestrated by either the Congress itself or possibly insiders aiming to push him out of the BJP.

Rajender categorically stated, “I am not joining Congress; this is mischief done against me by the Congress or maybe insiders who want me to exit the BJP. In fact, I will be contesting the Lok Sabha Elections from Malkajgiri parliamentary constituency.”

The implications of Rajender’s statement suggest that he may harbor concerns or apprehensions from leaders within his own BJP party. The explicit denial of joining Congress and the declaration of his intent to contest elections from Malkajgiri reflect Rajender’s firm stance in the face of recent speculations.

The remark also raises the possibility that Rajender perceives a threat or challenges from within the BJP leadership, prompting him to clarify his political allegiance. The coming days may unfold the dynamics behind these statements as Rajender prepares for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.

0

Hyderabad : – In a recent development, the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) announced the postponement of the Group – II recruitment examination originally scheduled for January 6 and 7, 2024. This marks the third instance of deferment by the Commission.

The revised examination dates will be disclosed in due course, according to a press release issued by the TSPSC. The decision to postpone has been attributed to circumstances not explicitly outlined in the release.

This examination has encountered rescheduling on two previous occasions. Initially slated for August 29 and 30, it was later shifted to November 2 and 3 in response to candidate requests.
