Hyderabad: — The Government of Telangana, through a recent Government Order (GO), has announced the extension of the deadline for settling pending traffic challans with discounts. The revised last date for availing discounts on traffic fines is now set for February 15.
As part of this initiative, the government has declared a substantial waiver on pending eChallans issued under the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988. The discount rates include a 90 per cent waiver for TSRTC buses, 80 per cent for two and three-wheelers, and 60 per cent for LMV/HMV vehicles.
The decision to extend the deadline for discounted payments comes after the initial extension to January 31, which was granted on January 10. This move aims to facilitate individuals and vehicle owners to clear their pending challans with significant discounts, encouraging compliance with traffic regulations.
Hyderabad : — In the ongoing political skirmish, Congress Member of Parliament Manickam Tagore has served a defamation notice to Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K T Rama Rao (KTR) in response to allegations of bribery made by KTR against Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
Taking to the ‘X’ platform on Wednesday, Tagore announced the notice and called on KTR to issue an unconditional written apology within seven days. Should KTR fail to respond, Tagore warned of pursuing legal action for defamation.
“A defamation notice has been sent to Koduku. Perhaps he’s too engrossed in his farmhouse entertainments to bother with a reply. If he doesn’t respond in 7 days, it’s off to court we go!” Tagore posted, using the term ‘Koduku’ to refer to KTR.
Responding to Tagore’s post, KTR engaged in a war of words, suggesting that Tagore redirect the notice to Telangana Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy. KTR claimed that Venkat Reddy initially made the bribery accusation against Tagore. KTR stated, “Manickam Garu, Why are you in a confused mode and misdirecting these notices? It was your colleague Congressman & MP Venkat Reddy who had alleged on record that Revanth Reddy bribed you and bought the PCC president post for Rs 50 crore.”
KTR further emphasized that he had merely quoted Venkat Reddy’s allegations, which were widely reported in the media. He suggested that Tagore redirect the defamation notice to Venkat Reddy, who now holds a position in the Telangana secretariat.
The political exchange continues to escalate as both parties stand firm on their positions, setting the stage for potential legal action and further public discourse.
Hyderabad : — The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) strongly condemned an incident on Wednesday where a female passenger allegedly abused and assaulted two bus conductors from Hayatnagar Depot-1. The incident prompted RTC officials to file a formal complaint at the LB Nagar police station under Rachakonda Commissionerate, and the police are currently investigating the case.
The TSRTC management emphasized their commitment to the safety and well-being of their staff. They made it clear that incidents of this nature against diligent and committed staff would not be overlooked. Legal action is promised against those who interfere with the duties of TSRTC staff and resort to physical attacks.
The organization acknowledged the patience exhibited by TSRTC staff in carrying out their duties and issued an appeal to the public to support them, ensuring everyone reaches their destinations safely, as stated by VC.Sajjanar Managing Director of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation
In an additional development, it has come to light that another passenger recorded the entire incident on their phone. Upon viewing the video, it appears that the involved lady may have been in an intoxicated state. The organization insists on stringent action against her to prevent the recurrence of such incidents in the future.
We are not intentionally sharing the video of the lady because not only does it show physical assault on the conductor, but also includes a significant amount of verbal abuse by the lady.
In a recent tweet, former Union Minister P. Chidambaram highlighted the Chandigarh Mayor’s election as a stark warning about the potential abuse of power. Drawing parallels with previous instances in Bihar, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, and Maharashtra, he emphasized the recurring pattern of disregard for the people’s verdict by the BJP-RSS.
Chidambaram argued that the stability of democracy hinges on the presence of a robust Opposition and the electorate’s choice of diverse parties in various elections. He urged people to reflect on the essence of vibrant democracies, emphasizing the significance of changing governments periodically to prevent the nation from veering towards a one-party state.
The veteran politician posed a critical question: Why do vibrant democracies witness changes in government every 5 or 10 years? According to Chidambaram, this rotation is essential to safeguard democracy from transforming into a single-party dominance, citing examples from China, Russia, Türkiye, and various Asian and African nations.
Chidambaram’s tweet serves as a call for vigilance and a plea for active participation in the democratic process to ensure its safety and endurance.
The Chandigarh Mayor's election should be the last warning to the people on how power can be abused
What happened in Bihar was no different from what happened earlier in Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Maharashtra.
Varanasi : — In a significant development, a Varanasi court on Wednesday granted permission to the Hindu side to perform prayers in the sealed basement of the contested Gyanvapi mosque premises. The court ruling allows the priest’s kin the right to worship deities in the cellar, referred to as “Vyas ji ka tahkhana,” located within the Gyanvapi complex.
Advocate Madan Mohan Yadav, representing the Hindu side, expressed satisfaction with the court’s decision. He confirmed that the Varanasi court has granted permission for Hindus to conduct worship in the specified area. The temple side plaintiffs celebrated the order as a substantial victory for their case.
According to the court’s directive, the puja in the sealed area is scheduled to commence in seven days. Additionally, Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple Trust will appoint a pujari for the worship proceedings.
This development unfolded a day after Hindu women plaintiffs approached the Supreme Court, seeking directions for the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to investigate the details of the ‘Shivling’ claimed to have been discovered at Varanasi’s Gyanvapi mosque, specifically in the sealed area.
Last year, on July 21, the district court had instructed the ASI to conduct a scientific survey of the Gyanvapi premises, situated adjacent to the Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi. The ASI’s task was to determine whether the mosque was constructed over a pre-existing structure of a Hindu temple.
Hyderabad : — In a press statement on Wednesday, Shaik Abdullah Sohail, a senior leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), urged the Congress Government to establish concrete deadlines for the fulfillment of promises made to minorities during the Assembly elections. Despite being in power for over 50 days, the government has yet to provide a timeline for the implementation of numerous promises, including 12 major commitments to Muslims outlined in a separate Minorities Declaration.*
Sohail stressed the need for clarity on key issues, particularly the inclusion of minorities, including Muslims, Christians, and others, in the caste census. This aligns with the first promise in the Congress party’s Minorities Declaration, which pledges to conduct a caste census within six months, ensuring fair reservation for all backward classes, including minorities, in various sectors.
Additionally, Sohail called for the allocation of Rs 4,000 crore in the upcoming budget for minorities’ welfare, a commitment made in the party’s manifesto. He urged the swift passage of the Bill to introduce the Minorities Sub-Plan during the upcoming budget session of the Telangana Legislature.
The BRS leader outlined several other promises that require deadlines, including Rs.1,000 crore per annum for subsidized loans for unemployed minority youth and women, the Abdul Kalam Taufa-e-Taleem scheme, special recruitment for Urdu Medium teachers, and a monthly honorarium for priests from various religions.
Sohail criticized Congress leaders for not providing specific timelines for the implementation of electoral promises, accusing them of diverting attention to irrelevant issues. He highlighted the successful implementation of numerous schemes benefiting minorities under the previous BRS Government.

Betrayals and Alliances: Nitish Kumar’s Unpredictable Political Journey
Patna :- Nitish Kumar, a seasoned player in political betrayals with no steadfast allegiance, is once again at the helm in Bihar. His new government, in collaboration with the BJP, is set to seek a trust vote on February 10, as per a notification released on Tuesday. This move follows Nitish Kumar’s recent dramatic switch, abandoning the INDIA grouping to forge an alliance with the BJP, a party he distanced himself from less than 18 months ago.
The trust vote is scheduled for the opening day of the budget session after the customary address by Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar to both Houses of the legislature, as outlined in the notification issued by the Parliamentary Affairs Department.
Nitish Kumar, serving as the Chief Minister of Bihar for an unprecedented ninth term, took the oath on Sunday, marking a significant political shift. The upcoming session, spanning 12 working days, will witness the presentation of the state budget on February 12, as indicated in the notification.
Anticipated to be a tumultuous session, the NDA faces a challenge with RJD MLA Awadh Bihari Choudhary yet to step down as the speaker amid mounting pressure from the alliance. The BJP is poised to claim the post of the assembly speaker, with potential contenders including Nand Kishore Yadav and Amrendra Pratap Singh, according to sources.
Hyderabad : – In response to recent statements by BRS Working President K. Tarakarama Rao (KTR) alleging neglect of minority leaders by the Congress party, Congress senior leader and Advisor to the Telangana Government (SC, ST, BC & Minorities), Mohammed Ali Shabbir, held a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan on Tuesday.
Shabbir Ali strongly condemned KTR for attempting to create division within the Congress party by making baseless allegations of neglect towards minority leaders. Ali countered KTR’s sympathy claims, revealing details of KCR’s alleged attempts to end his political career by strategically contesting against him in Kamareddy. Despite losing the election, Ali emphasized the Congress party’s commitment to recognizing and rewarding dedicated leaders.
Ali dismissed KTR’s accusations of neglecting minorities, stating that the Congress Government, in its 50 days in power, has taken significant steps for minority welfare. He pointed out key appointments, including a Muslim advocate as Additional Advocate General and representation in the Telangana Public Service Commission.
Shabbir Ali accused BRS of destroying institutions related to minority welfare during its governance. He highlighted alleged neglect of bodies like the Minority Welfare Department, Urdu Academy, Minorities Finance Corporation, SETWIN, and Haj Committee.
Ali challenged KTR to clarify KCR’s contested actions against him before addressing minority issues. He asserted that the Congress Government would expose BRS’s alleged failures and false claims of development.
Emphasizing the Congress party’s commitment, Ali mentioned ongoing efforts and plans to appoint a significant number of Muslims to various corporations, ensuring inclusive representation.
As political tensions rise, Shabbir Ali’s press conference serves as a robust response to KTR’s accusations, providing insights into the Congress party’s stance on minority issues and its dedication to inclusive governance.
New York : – Scientists have unveiled a groundbreaking AI-based test that harnesses machine learning and blood metabolite information to detect ovarian cancer with an impressive 93% accuracy. For more than three decades, the medical community has sought a highly accurate early diagnostic tool for ovarian cancer, often dubbed the “silent killer” due to its asymptomatic nature in the early stages.
Key Points:
Machine Learning Integration: Researchers, including John McDonald, a Professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology, have successfully integrated machine learning with blood metabolite data to develop a test with a 93% accuracy rate in detecting ovarian cancer.
Silent Killer Challenge: Ovarian cancer is notorious for its asymptomatic nature during the initial stages, making early detection elusive. The new test presents a significant improvement, particularly in detecting early-stage ovarian disease in women initially classified as normal.
Personalized Probabilistic Approach: The test utilizes a patient’s individual metabolic profile, offering a personalized and probabilistic diagnostic approach. This method provides more clinically informative and accurate results compared to traditional binary (yes/no) tests.
Clinical Significance: McDonald emphasizes that the new direction in cancer diagnostics is promising not only for ovarian cancer but potentially for other types of cancers as well.
Survival Rates: Early detection is crucial, as the average five-year survival rate for late-stage ovarian cancer patients is around 31%, while early detection and treatment elevate the survival rate to over 90%.
AI in Molecular Heterogeneity: Given the molecular heterogeneity in cancer patients, the researchers opted for machine learning as a powerful tool to address the complexity of identifying a universal diagnostic biomarker for ovarian cancer.
Study and Validation: The integrative approach was tested on 564 women from various regions, including Georgia, North Carolina, Philadelphia, and western Canada, resulting in a 93% accuracy rate. Additional studies are underway to explore the test’s capability in detecting very early-stage disease in asymptomatic women.
The breakthrough AI-driven test marks a significant leap forward in early ovarian cancer detection, offering hope for improved survival rates and paving the way for innovative approaches in cancer diagnostics.
