New Delhi: Senior journalist and writer Aziz Burney, in a strong statement, has warned that remaining silent on critical issues like the Waqf Amendment Bill and Common Civil Code could pose a danger to the entire community. Burney, who has been writing and speaking on public matters for over 50 years, emphasized that while speaking up may involve personal risk, silence is no less dangerous.

Burney, aged 72, remarked, “My life has been in danger several times, but I continued to write and speak without fear. Death and the fear of it exist even in silence, so why be afraid of speaking the truth?”

Addressing the relevance of these bills, Burney stressed that they do not only concern the present but also have lasting impacts on future generations. “These are issues that must be brought before the government with honesty and well-reasoned arguments,” he added.

However, Burney cautioned against reckless statements driven by passion. He advised that thorough research and understanding of these topics is essential before speaking publicly. “Speaking without proper knowledge can be even more dangerous,” he said, expressing hope for a positive outcome through informed discourse.
