Hyderabad, January 6, 2025: A week-long International Faculty Development Program (IFDP) on “Generative AI: Innovation and Application for Social Impact” was inaugurated today at Muffakham Jah College of Engineering and Technology (MJCET). Organized by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering in collaboration with Shodhguru International and Pantech Learning, the program aims to explore the transformative potential of Generative AI.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Mr. Uma Maheshwar Desu, CEO of GenAIPioneer, who served as the chief guest. The event was attended by distinguished guests including Ibrahim Ali Siddiqui, a board member of Sultan-ul-Uloom Education Society (SUES), and principals from SUES’s constituent institutions. Other notable attendees included Prof. Mahipal Singh Rawat, Principal of MJCET, Prof. Hamraj, Dean of Academics, Prof. Ferhatullah Hussainy, Dean of Student Affairs, Mr. K.V. Narsimha Rao, Registrar of MJCET, along with heads of departments, professors, and 150 faculty participants.
Prof. Syed Shabbeer Ahmad, Head of the CSE Department and Convener of the IFDP, welcomed the dignitaries and participants. He provided an overview of the department’s activities and the objectives behind the program. Mr. Desu delivered a keynote address on the impact of Generative AI, highlighting its roadmap, government initiatives in India, and the role of academia in the GenAI movement.
Ibrahim Ali Siddiqui emphasized the cautious use of Generative AI to ensure it serves its intended purpose effectively. Prof. Rawat praised the CSE Department’s initiative, stressing the importance of embracing and collaborating on Generative AI advancements.
Dr. Tasneem Bano Rehman, Coordinator of the IFDP, elaborated on the program’s coverage, emphasizing the significance of Generative AI and its applications. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Maniza Hijab, Joint Head of the CSE Department and Co-Convener of the IFDP. The program will continue throughout the week, featuring various sessions aimed at enhancing knowledge and fostering innovation in Generative AI.
