“Each Brick of Their Homes Holds the Emotions and Hard-Earned Rupees of the Poor”
Hyderabad, September 23- 2024 :- The Hydra demolition drives across Telangana have become a source of grave concern for ordinary citizens, as bulldozers arrive unannounced and wreak havoc in their communities. These demolitions, carried out with a sense of urgency and seemingly without due process, are causing immense distress to residents and small business owners. Critics claim that Hydra’s actions represent a dual standard, as justice is selectively served depending on one’s status.
On Sunday, in a fresh wave of demolitions, Hydra targeted several areas in Sangareddy district, including Aminpur, Kishtareddypet, and Patelguda, as well as sites in Medchal-Malkajigiri district. A total of 16 encroachments were cleared in Full Tank Level (FTL) areas. According to officials, Hydra reclaimed 8 acres of government land across these locations, framing it as a necessary measure to protect public assets. Yet, for the common man, the reality of losing homes and shops in the early morning hours has left many feeling helpless and devastated.
One heartbreaking story that echoes the pain of countless others involves a mother watching her family’s hard-earned home crumble under the force of the bulldozers. Built brick by brick, the house represented the toil and dreams of her son, only to be reduced to rubble in minutes. As the Hydra bulldozer tore down their shelter, the woman’s husband could do nothing but watch in silent agony. This scene, repeated in various neighborhoods, has become a symbol of the destruction facing Telangana’s middle class under the government’s demolition drive.
The opposition, particularly the BRS party, has expressed outrage over these incidents, accusing the Congress-led Revanth Reddy government of disregarding the suffering of the poor and middle class. In a scathing social media post accompanied by video clips, the BRS warned Revanth Reddy that the very people being displaced today will rise against his government tomorrow. The post highlighted the emotional and physical toll these demolitions are taking on families across the state, as communities are torn apart in the name of change.
As Hydra continues its operations, the voices of those impacted grow louder, questioning the rationale and humanity behind the destruction of their homes and livelihoods. With elections on the horizon, the impact of these actions could reverberate far beyond the present, as the people of Telangana grapple with the aftermath of the bulldozers.
