Hyderabad: On Friday, August 9, the Rachakonda police arrested two individuals accused of running a matrimonial fraud scheme.
The accused, K Surya Prakash, 33, a share market trader from Bhadradri-Kothagudem, and S Satish, 33, from Kakinada, were involved in conning people through matrimonial sites. Prakash, who was previously duped by a reputed matrimony site, teamed up with Satish to target others.
Using fake details and photos of attractive women, the duo registered on various matrimonial sites. They would initiate conversations with match seekers, asking about their family background and exchanging photos on WhatsApp. Once the victims were emotionally invested, they would request money for reasons such as parental health issues, educational fees, or business losses. To further deceive, they used voice changers to imitate female voices.
Following a complaint from a victim, the Cybercrime police booked a case and apprehended the duo. They were also linked to a similar case in Rachakonda and three other cases across the state.
The arrested cybercriminals have been charged under Cr. No. 105/2024 U/s 406, 419, 420 of IPC and Sec. 66-C, 66-D of the IT Act at CyberCrimeRck PS, Rachakonda.
