A devastating explosion rocked a chemical industry situated on the outskirts of Chandapur village in Hatnura Mandal, Sangareddy district, Telangana, on Wednesday, April 3, resulting in a massive fire and tragic loss of lives.
The blast, originating from SB Organics around 5 pm, engulfed the area in flames. As per reports, at least 7 individuals have lost their lives, and numerous others are feared to be injured, with many workers reportedly trapped in the inferno.
Among the casualties are the director of the Sangareddy firm and six other workers, while approximately 25 individuals have sustained severe injuries in the explosion.
According to a senior police official, “The reactor exploded at the pharma company, and people around it were thrown away in its impact… So far, four people have died… 10-15 people sustained injuries. They have been shifted to a hospital and are undergoing treatment.”
Efforts for relief and rescue operations are currently underway at the site of the incident.
Political figures, including Narsapur MLA Sunitha Laxma Reddy and BJP candidate for Medak Parliamentary constituency Raghunandan Rao, visited the blast site to assess the situation.
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy convened with officials to review the aftermath of the reactor blast. It was briefed to the CM that the fire accident stemmed from the explosion of the reactor within the industry premises. In response, CM Revnath directed the fire department officials to expedite rescue operations and contain the fire.
Expressing condolences to the bereaved families, CM Revnath instructed Sangareddy district authorities to ensure comprehensive medical care for the injured individuals. The incident stands as a somber reminder of the critical importance of ensuring safety measures in industrial settings.
