“Budget Session Sparks Clash: Political Fervor Grips Telangana Legislature”

Hyderabad :- – The political landscape in Telangana is set to heat up as the budget session commences on Thursday, with the ruling Congress and the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) gearing up for a clash over several contentious issues. Foremost among these are the transfer of Krishna Basin irrigation projects and the perceived delay in fulfilling election promises.

Scheduled to commence on February 8, the budget session of the Telangana Legislative Assembly and Council will commence with a joint address by Governor Dr. Tamilsai Soundararajan at 11:30 am. Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka is slated to present the budget on February 10. The duration of the session will be determined in a subsequent meeting of the Business Advisory Committee.

Anticipation runs high as this inaugural budget session under the Congress Government promises to be tumultuous. The opposition is poised to critique the administration’s alleged sluggishness in fulfilling the six guarantees made during the elections. Of particular contention is the issue of relinquishing control of Telangana’s projects to the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB).

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is expected to announce the implementation of two additional guarantees during the session: subsidized gas cylinders priced at Rs 500 and free electricity for up to 200 units.

Former Chief Minister and BRS President K Chandrashekhar Rao is anticipated to make his presence felt in the session as the Leader of the Opposition, following his recovery from hip replacement surgery.

Stringent security measures have been put in place to ensure the smooth conduct of proceedings. Legislative Council Chairman Gutta Sukhender Reddy underscored the importance of promptly addressing questions posed by members and ensuring seamless operations. Police officials have been instructed to maintain vigilance, particularly regarding potential dharnas and rallies.

Efforts are underway to streamline logistical arrangements, with plans to relocate the Legislative Council to the old Assembly building. Notable officials, including Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari and DGP Ravi Gupta, have been actively involved in preparations to facilitate a successful budget session.

As Telangana braces itself for what promises to be a charged and consequential session, all eyes are on the deliberations that lie ahead.
