Hyderabad, October 20 — The Telangana Cabinet Sub-Committee, tasked with reviewing the contentious Government Order (GO) 317, submitted its detailed report to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Sunday. The report, delivered in a sealed cover, addresses several concerns raised by employees, teachers, and various associations across the state regarding the transfer and allotment of government staff.

The sub-committee, chaired by Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha, includes IT Minister D Sridhar Babu and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar as members. According to Damodar Rajanarasimha’s post on X (formerly Twitter), the committee held extensive discussions with representatives from employees’ and teachers’ associations, as well as other intellectuals, before finalizing its recommendations.

GO 317 has been at the center of controversy since its implementation, as it deals with the allocation and transfer of government employees post the formation of new districts in Telangana. The order led to significant unrest among government employees, who raised concerns about transfers being done arbitrarily, without considering seniority and domicile preferences. Many employees have been pushing for modifications to the GO, stating that it disrupts families and ignores previous service records.

The sub-committee’s report is expected to address these concerns and propose potential amendments to make the transfer process more transparent and employee-friendly. However, details of the recommendations have not yet been made public.

The submission of this report comes at a critical time as the state government faces increasing pressure from employees and teachers who have held protests demanding changes to GO 317. The sub-committee’s findings could play a key role in easing tensions and providing a fair resolution to the ongoing grievances.

Earlier this year, GO 317 sparked numerous protests, particularly from teacher unions and government staff, who argued that the transfers under this order were inequitable. Many called for the government to revisit the guidelines to ensure justice for employees impacted by district reorganizations.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is expected to review the report and announce the government’s stance in the coming weeks, which could have a significant impact on thousands of government employees awaiting clarity on their transfers.
