Sultan-ul-Uloom College of Pharmacy Hosts Blood Donation Camp on World Pharmacists Day

Hyderabad, Sept 25: In a significant step towards promoting community service and social responsibility, Sultan-ul-Uloom College of Pharmacy organized its annual blood donation camp in collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Blood Bank, Telangana State Branch. The camp was held on the occasion of World Pharmacists Day and witnessed participation from over 300 students and staff members, emphasizing the college’s commitment to both academics and humanitarian efforts.

The event was inaugurated by Shri Damodar Rajanarasimha, Minister for Health, Medical & Family Welfare, Science and Technology, Government of Telangana. In his address, the Minister highlighted Telangana’s leadership in the pharmaceutical sector, specifically noting the state’s number one position in the production of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) and its vast network of retail pharmacies. He also praised the government’s efforts to strengthen the pharmacy profession by increasing the number of pharmacy seats in educational institutions. Speaking about the blood donation initiative, he called it a noble effort that could save countless lives.

Retired IAS officer Mr. Ajay Mishra, Chairman of the Indian Red Cross Blood Bank, expressed his admiration for the initiative, stressing the crucial role of blood donations in life-saving healthcare.

Dr. Anupama Koneru, Principal of Sultan-ul-Uloom College of Pharmacy, extended a warm welcome to all the distinguished guests and participants, while Honorary Secretary of Sultan-ul-Uloom Education Society, Mr. Zafar Javeed, appreciated the college’s consistent efforts in organizing this annual event. “The blood donated today by our students and staff will be a lifeline for those in need,” he remarked. He lauded the donors for their spirit of service and compassion, saying the initiative reflects the core values instilled by the institution.

Several students actively contributed to the success of this event, including Shaista, Ayesha, Aliyan, and Fayaz from the PharmD 4th year. “This annual tradition of blood donation has become a part of our identity as students of Sultan-ul-Uloom,” said Ayesha, while Shaista added, “It’s a privilege to be part of a cause that can make a difference to so many lives.”

Lubna, Ahmed Fasi , and Uzair from the B Pharm final year echoed these sentiments, with Uzair stating, “Participating in the blood donation camp not only gives us a chance to give back to society but also strengthens our understanding of healthcare beyond the classroom.” Lubna expressed her gratitude, adding, “The college provides us with such meaningful platforms to serve, and we are proud to contribute.”

The event was presided over by Mr. Waliullah, Chairman of Sultan-ul-Uloom Education Society, with Dr. Mir Akbar Ali Khan, Treasurer, and Board Members Mr. Aamer Javeed, Mr. Omar Javeed, and Mr. Faiq Ahmed also in attendance, showing their support for the cause.

This initiative serves as a testament to the institution’s dedication to not only excelling in the academic field but also fulfilling its social obligations by organizing activities that contribute to the welfare of society.
