“Fostering Practical Legal Skills: Telangana’s First Inter-College Crime Scene Investigation Competition at Sultan-ul-Uloom College of Law”
Hyderabad, December 21, 2024 – Sultan-ul-Uloom College of Law set a milestone by organizing Telangana’s first-ever Inter-College Crime Scene Investigation Competition 2024 at its Banjara Hills campus. The event brought together aspiring legal professionals from across India to showcase their investigative and analytical skills in a practical setting.
Highlights of the Event
The competition, open to students enrolled in 3-year and 5-year law programs, featured a realistic mock crime scene meticulously prepared to challenge the participants. Each of the 21 participating teams assumed specialized roles, including investigator, sketch artist, and photographer, working together to collect evidence, draft sketches, and submit detailed analytical reports. This initiative aimed to enhance critical thinking, observation, and legal reasoning among students.
Esteemed Guests
The Chief Guest, Sri K. Sreenivas Reddy, IPS, Director General of Vigilance and Enforcement, Hyderabad, shared his invaluable experience spanning 30 years of service. He discussed notable investigations from his career and commended the college for hosting such an innovative event. Following his address, Sri K. Sreenivas Reddy, along with Mr. Zafar Javed, Honorary Secretary of the Sultan-ul-Uloom Educational Society, unveiled the competition’s brochure and inaugurated the crime scene rooms.
While touring the facilities, Sri K. Sreenivas Reddy praised the creativity and effort demonstrated by the college staff in designing the crime scenes, applauding their dedication to practical education.
Guest of Honour Mrs. Sharada Avadhanam, Former Deputy Director (Forensics), Andhra Pradesh, and Dr. C.P. Nandini, Professor of Law at DSNLU, brought further prestige to the event, sharing their insights on the importance of forensic and legal collaboration.
Encouragement and Recognition
In his speech, Mr. Zafar Javed encouraged the participants and highlighted the college’s consistent efforts to organize skill-enhancing programs. He emphasized how such initiatives inspire students and prepare them for real-world challenges.
Prize Distribution
The competition concluded with a spirited prize distribution ceremony. The winners received cash awards of ₹10,000, ₹8,000, and ₹6,000 for the first, second, and third places, respectively. Certificates of Appreciation were awarded to all participants for their commendable performances.
