Delhi Drama Unfolds

A political standoff erupted outside the chief minister’s official residence at 6, Flagstaff Road, as AAP leaders Sanjay Singh and Saurabh Bhardawaj clashed with the BJP over the “Sheesh Mahal” controversy.

Barricades and Blockades
The AAP leaders were stopped by police from entering the bungalow, where they had invited media personnel for a tour to counter BJP’s allegations about extravagant renovations under Arvind Kejriwal’s tenure. Barricades were set up, and police personnel were deployed to block their entry.

AAP Questions Authority
Confronting officials outside the residence, Bharadwaj demanded answers, stating, “Who instructed you to stop us? I am a minister here for an inspection. Have you received orders from the lieutenant governor?”

AAP’s Media Invitation
Earlier, Bharadwaj announced a plan to “debunk BJP’s claims” by showcasing the property. He stated, “We will search for the alleged golden commode, swimming pool, and mini bar that BJP talks about. If there are allegations of fund misuse, both the PM’s and CM’s residences should be investigated.”

BJP’s ‘Sheesh Mahal’ Jibes
The BJP has focused its campaign on allegations of misappropriation in the bungalow’s renovation, dubbing it “Sheesh Mahal.” Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva accused the former occupant, Arvind Kejriwal, of using taxpayers’ money for luxury, claiming valuable items like a “golden commode” were now missing.

Counterattack with ‘Raj Mahal’
In retaliation, AAP termed the prime minister’s residence a “Raj Mahal” and claimed it cost ₹2,700 crore. The party challenged the BJP to open the PM’s residence to the media for transparency.

A Controversy That Won’t Settle
The allegations surrounding the 6, Flagstaff Road bungalow have become a central issue in Delhi’s political landscape, with both parties trading accusations ahead of the assembly elections.
