Bengaluru: In a noteworthy turn of events, Shakuntala Nataraj, a BJP woman activist hailing from Tumakuru, Karnataka, is now embroiled in her second legal case. The Jayanagar police registered an FIR against her on Thursday for allegedly disseminating false information on her social media platform concerning the national flag.
This marks the second such instance involving legal action against Shakuntala. Notably, the High Grounds police had previously registered a case against her for making objectionable remarks targeting Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his family.
The complaint leading to the recent FIR was filed by Mahalakshmamma H. N., a Police Sub Inspector stationed at Jayanagar Police Station, Tumakuru Town. Shakuntala Nataraj faces charges under Section 153B of the Indian Penal Code, which deals with “Imputations, assertions prejudicial to national integration.”
The registration of this FIR sets the stage for a formal investigation into the alleged spreading of fake news and calls for Shakuntala’s response to the allegations as per the legal process. Specific details regarding the nature of the purported false information or the unfolding legal proceedings are expected to surface as the case progresses.
