Police Constable Injured in Hit-and-Run During Vehicle Checking in Hyderabad

Hyderabad : A police constable sustained injuries when a vehicle struck him during a routine vehicle inspection in Secunderabad. The incident transpired on the night of October 18 and 19 within the jurisdiction of Chilkalguda police station. The police team was conducting checks as part of an ongoing effort to ensure compliance with the model code of conduct for the upcoming assembly elections.

The constable was positioned in the middle of the road, signaling a speeding vehicle to come to a halt. However, the driver disregarded the instruction and sped away after hitting the constable. The injured constable, identified as Mahesh, was promptly transported to a hospital by his fellow officers. Fortunately, his condition is reported to be stable.

A video clip capturing the incident quickly circulated on social media, drawing attention to the incident. Law enforcement agencies have initiated a search to locate the vehicle involved.

In the state of Telangana, police and other enforcement agencies have been conducting extensive checks to enforce the model code of conduct. Over the past ten days, these inspections have resulted in the seizure of cash, gold, liquor, and various items with a combined value exceeding Rs 264 crore, as reported by the Chief Electoral Officer.
