Hyderabad, July 13: Tension erupted in Medipally, Hyderabad, on Sunday after an incident of firing took place at the office of MLC Chintapandu Naveen Kumar, widely known as Teenmaar Mallanna. The incident occurred when a group of people claiming to be members of Telangana Jagruthi gathered at the office to protest against Mallanna’s critical remarks on BRS MLC K. Kavitha.

According to initial reports, the protestors reached the office premises on Sunday afternoon, shouting slogans and demanding an apology from Mallanna. A heated confrontation ensued as they tried to force their way inside. In an attempt to disperse the crowd, Mallanna’s gunmen intervened, leading to a scuffle. Amid the chaos, the gunmen reportedly opened fire in the air. Unfortunately, one individual identified as Sai sustained two bullet injuries during the incident and was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital. His condition is currently reported to be stable.
Local police rushed to the spot and secured the area, launching an investigation to ascertain the sequence of events and evaluate whether the security personnel acted in accordance with the law.
This is not the first time Teenmaar Mallanna has faced such attacks. In the past few years, he has been targeted multiple times for his outspoken criticism of political leaders and parties. In August 2021, his office was vandalized allegedly by unidentified persons angered by his remarks against certain BRS leaders. Similarly, in early 2022, Mallanna was attacked while returning from a public meeting, and stones were pelted at his convoy, resulting in minor injuries to his supporters.
Despite these repeated threats and attacks, Mallanna has continued to voice his opinions openly, positioning himself as a vocal critic of the BRS leadership and other political figures. His supporters argue that these attacks are an attempt to silence his criticism and curb freedom of expression.
Meanwhile, the recent incident has drawn sharp reactions from different political circles and civil society groups. Many have condemned the use of firearms to control protestors and demanded a fair probe into the circumstances that led to this firing.
