Hyderabad :- BRS working president KT Rama Rao criticized the Congress government for what he deemed a discriminatory treatment towards minority communities by denying them due representation in the State cabinet. Rao emphasized that, for the first time since 1953, minorities were excluded from a cabinet berth.
Speaking at a meeting of the party’s minority wing at Telangana Bhavan on Saturday, Rao attributed this omission to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s RSS roots, alleging a vindictive stance against minorities for their substantial support to the BRS during the Assembly polls.
Rao criticized the appointment of Mohammed Shabbir Ali as an advisor instead of including a minority leader in the cabinet, considering it an insult to the minority community. He accused the Congress leadership of competing with the BJP in denying minorities their rightful representation, viewing them merely as a vote bank.
Assigning blame to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, who also holds the Home portfolio, Rao held him fully responsible for recent communal incidents in the State. He highlighted communal clashes in Sangareddy, Nalgonda, and other places on January 22, asserting that the government had failed to take decisive action.
Warning minorities about the Congress and BJP’s collaboration, Rao claimed the two parties were working together due to a strong ‘Fevical bonding.’ He alleged that the Congress would field non-serious candidates in parliamentary polls against the BJP nominees to aid them in winning.
Rao underscored the BRS’s commitment to minority welfare during its governance, citing significant efforts in education sector development. He attributed the substantial minority support in the assembly polls to the secular credentials of the BRS leadership.
