Hyderabad :- Asia witnessed the spectacular commencement of Wings India 2024, solidifying its status as the continent’s largest Civil Aviation event. The four-day extravaganza was inaugurated by Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, signifying a collaborative effort between the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
Minister Scindia, in his inaugural address, underscored India’s significant standing as the world’s third-largest aircraft purchaser, following only the United States and China. Providing insights into the country’s aviation landscape, he disclosed Air India’s impressive fleet of 470 aircraft, consisting of 250 Airbus and 220 Boeing. Major player IndiGo boasts a fleet of 500 aircraft, while the newcomer, Akasa, impressively showcases 150 aircraft.
The initial two days of Wings India 2024 will be dedicated to a global conference, drawing international delegates. Opening its doors to visitors on the last two days, the event anticipates a substantial turnout. With over 1500 delegates from 106 countries and an estimated one lakh visitors participating, this year’s event becomes a pivotal moment for the global aviation industry.
Today marks the beginning of Wings India 2024, celebrated as Asia’s premier civil aviation event, captivating industry enthusiasts and policymakers alike. In a ceremonious inauguration at Begumpet airport, Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia set the stage for four days of immersive discussions and showcases focused on commercial, general, and business aviation.
Wings India, a biennial spectacle, aims to be a nexus for business leaders and policymakers, spotlighting India’s ascendancy in the aviation sector. Jointly organized by the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation, Airports Authority of India, and the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), the event features an extensive itinerary, including the inaugural ceremony, global ministerial conference, global CEOs’ forum, B2B/B2G meetings, awards ceremony, cultural evening, and a business networking dinner.
The diverse range of activities includes exhibitions, demonstration flights, static displays, media conferences, and one-to-one business meetings, promising an engaging experience for the anticipated 1,500 delegates from 106 countries and 5,000 business visitors.
Highlights of the event include an airshow by the prestigious Sarang team of the Indian Air Force, the unveiling of Air India’s groundbreaking A350 (India’s first of its kind), and the showcase of the Boeing 777 X. These spectacles are set to elevate the discourse at the Global Ministerial Conference and Global CEOs’ Forum, crucial platforms for shaping the industry’s future.
Notable dignitaries present include Minister of State for Road Transport & Highways and Civil Aviation, General V.K. Singh, Chairman of FICCI Civil Aviation Committee, Remi Maillard, and Minister of Roads & Building and Cinematography, Government of Telangana, Shri Komati Rreddy.
In his state perspective, Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy emphasized Telangana’s commitment to overall development, outlining the state’s proactive efforts across sectors to foster growth and progress.
