Hyderabad, October 20 — Group-I services recruitment aspirants have once again voiced their concerns over the upcoming Mains exams, set to begin on Monday, urging the Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC) to delay the exams until after a High Court ruling expected on November 20.

The candidates are seeking clarity on several critical issues, including new reservation norms and confusion surrounding study materials, which they say are hindering their preparation.

The Mains exams are scheduled to be held from October 21 to 27, according to the TGPSC timetable. However, aspirants argue that the Government Order (GO) 29 issued by the Congress government, which altered reservation quotas for SC, ST, BC, and EWS categories, has made several candidates ineligible under the new rules. With the GO currently under judicial review, the aspirants feel that the uncertainty surrounding the outcome of the case undermines the validity of the exams and the results.

“We are not against the exam, but we want results that are free from litigation,” said the aspirants, urging the authorities to provide clear and fair guidelines.

Aspirants have also expressed confusion over the Telugu Akademi textbooks, which have been used extensively for preparing subjects such as Telangana history, geography, and movements. The TGPSC, however, has dismissed these materials as substandard in court, leaving students scrambling for alternative resources just days before the exams.

“This sudden shift has left candidates unsure of which study material to rely on, causing significant stress and confusion,” lamented one student.

Adding to their grievances, aspirants pointed out that peaceful protests seeking a resolution to these issues have been met with heavy-handed police action, including arrests and power cuts at study halls, further affecting their mental health and ability to focus on preparations.

“The emotional strain and constant disruptions have seriously impacted our ability to concentrate on our studies,” one candidate shared.

Furthermore, students applying under the sports quota received their hall tickets on October 19, just two days before the start of the exams. They criticized the TGPSC for the short notice, which they claim has left them with insufficient time to prepare adequately.

The aspirants continue to call on the TGPSC to delay the exams until the issues are resolved, stressing that a fair and transparent process is essential to ensure the credibility of the results.
