BJP Unable to Tolerate 34-Year-Old’s Challenge, Raghav Chadha Updates X Bio as ‘Suspended MP’

In a concise three-minute video message, Chadha expressed that the BJP seemed uneasy with the fact that a 34-year-old was challenging the supremacy of the world’s largest political party.

He highlighted that they were attempting to tarnish his reputation as an MP by falsely alleging signature forgery.

Chadha questioned his suspension from Rajya Sabha, pondering if his fault was merely questioning prominent leaders within the BJP and advocating for justice and accountability. He emphasized that he had held up a mirror to the party’s manifesto, urging them to follow the ideology of Advani and Vajpayee.

He questioned whether the BJP’s discomfort arose from his assertive parliamentary presence and probing questions. Characterizing the BJP’s top leadership as potent, Raghav acknowledged the issuance of two notices from the Privilege Committee within a week, perhaps a record. He lamented the stifling of Opposition voices in the House, recounting the suspension of three Aam Aadmi Party MPs, including himself, during the monsoon session.

Raghav noted this as an unprecedented instance of suspending the leader of the major Opposition, Congress.

He proclaimed his association with the legacy of Bhagat Singh, vowing to appear before the committee to seek justice.

Raghav noted that the Privilege Committee had previously acted against significant leaders, underscoring that such actions could also be directed towards AAP leaders. He refuted the BJP’s claim of signature forgery, clarifying that MPs could propose names for select committees without requiring signatures. He resolved to confront the situation courageously and stand up to these challenges.

In Punjab, Aam Aadmi Party leaders echoed support for Chadha, highlighting the Centre’s tendency to suppress dissenting voices.

Chadha’s suspension, they argued, followed a pattern of stifling those who raised concerns against the government’s actions. On X, previously known as Twitter, Chadha updated his bio to “Suspended Member of Parliament” following his suspension from Rajya Sabha. The suspension was due to allegations of “gross violation of rules, misconduct, defiant attitude, and contemptuous conduct,” pending a report by the privileges committee.
