Hyderabad, November 22, 2024: A remarkable turnout of 178 heavy vehicle drivers marked the inaugural day of the three-day Free Eye Check-Up Camp organized by IRB Golconda Expressway Pvt. Ltd. at the Hyderabad Goods Transport Association’s (HGTA) Training & Development Centre in Autonagar, Hyderabad. The camp, held in collaboration with Titan Eye Plus and HGTA, aims to promote road safety through improved vision and awareness about eye health.

On the first day, 138 drivers were registered to receive free spectacles, sponsored by the company, following comprehensive eye examinations conducted by a team of five technicians from Titan Eye Plus. The initiative is part of IRB’s commitment to ensuring safer roads for all, particularly for heavy vehicle drivers on the Nehru Outer Ring Road (ORR).

While the drivers waited for their tests, safety training was conducted for all 178 participants using audio-visual tools to enhance understanding and correlation.

A spokesperson for IRB Golconda Expressway Pvt. Ltd. expressed satisfaction with the response, stating, “The first day’s participation is encouraging and aligns with our goal to promote eye health and safety. We are thankful to HGTA for their support and are confident that this initiative will significantly contribute to safer driving practices.”

Support from Authorities

The camp was formally inaugurated by Mr. Praveen Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (LB Nagar), who commended IRB’s thoughtful initiative. He emphasized the critical role good vision plays in ensuring road safety and encouraged drivers to undergo regular eye check-ups.

Mr. Srinivasulu, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), also graced the occasion and highlighted how poor eyesight can pose risks not just to drivers but also to others on the road. Both officers urged participants to prioritize eye health and take advantage of such initiatives, especially given the increasing prevalence of vision problems among individuals over 40.

About the Initiative

The camp is part of the ‘Care and Safety’ program launched by IRB Golconda Expressway Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of IRB Infrastructure Trust, India’s largest Private Infrastructure Investment Trust. The initiative underscores IRB’s dedication to enhancing driver welfare and ensuring safe transportation on the Nehru ORR.

The camp will continue until November 23, providing free eye check-ups, spectacles, and safety training to drivers, aiming to set a new benchmark in driver welfare and road safety.
