Five Dead After Bus Catches Fire in UP; CM Announces Compensation

Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh: Shocking videos of the devastating bus fire near the Mardah police station in Ghazipur have surfaced on social media, depicting the harrowing scene as flames engulfed the vehicle.

The tragic incident occurred on Monday afternoon when a private bus, ferrying over 30 passengers to a wedding in Uttar Pradesh’s Mau district, caught fire, claiming the lives of five individuals and injuring nine others.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire may have been triggered by contact with a high-tension wire. Authorities, led by Additional Director-General Piyush Mordia, are diligently working to ascertain the exact cause of the blaze.

Rescue efforts are currently underway, with senior officials, including District Magistrate Aryaka Akhoury and Superintendent of Police Omvir Singh, leading the operation on the ground. A medical team has been deployed to provide urgent medical assistance to the injured.

In response to the tragedy, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed his heartfelt condolences and announced compensation measures. He has directed Rs 5 lakh to be provided to the next of kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the seriously injured individuals, who will also receive free treatment.

Furthermore, Adityanath has dispatched ministers AK Sharma and Anil Rajbhar to the scene to oversee relief efforts and provide support to the affected families.

As the community mourns the loss of lives, authorities are committed to conducting a thorough investigation to prevent such incidents in the future.
