Farmer Leaders from Six States Meet Rahul Gandhi in Parliament

New Delhi: On Wednesday morning, Rahul Gandhi, Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, held a meeting with a delegation of 12 farmer leaders from Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka inside the Parliament complex. Senior Congress figures KC Venugopal, Deepender Singh Hooda, and MPs Amarinder Singh Raja Warring and Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa also attended the meeting.

Representatives from the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (non-political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha presented their grievances and urged Gandhi to introduce a private member’s bill addressing their long-standing demands. Key issues included revising the Minimum Support Price (MSP) and ensuring legal backing, along with implementing the Swaminathan Commission’s recommendations on MSP.

Gandhi assured the delegation of his support for a legal guarantee of MSP and committed to engaging with other leaders of the INDIA alliance to apply pressure on the government. This meeting followed the announcement of the Union Budget 2024-25.
