Delhi, October 20 — A loud explosion rocked a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) school in Prashant Vihar, Rohini, early Sunday morning, prompting an immediate multi-agency response. The blast, reported around 7:50 AM, damaged the school’s wall and nearby properties but miraculously resulted in no injuries.
CCTV footage circulating on social media captured the moment of the explosion, which sent plumes of smoke billowing into the air. In light of recent bomb threats targeting airlines across the nation, this incident has raised significant security concerns.
The area surrounding the school, located in Sector 14, has been cordoned off as officials from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the National Security Guard (NSG) joined local police in the investigation. A police forensic team and a bomb squad were dispatched to determine the source of the explosion, which authorities suspect may have involved a crude bomb.
According to police reports, the blast caused damage to the school wall, nearby shops, and a parked vehicle. In their efforts to gather evidence, officers are collecting mobile network data to track individuals present in the vicinity at the time of the explosion.
Forensic experts have been meticulously examining the scene and discovered a suspicious white powder, which has been sent for laboratory analysis. Additionally, they dug a hole near the school wall and collected soil samples for further investigation. “The nature of the substance will be determined after a thorough examination,” stated a senior police official.
NSG commandos deployed robots to scan the entire area for any additional explosive materials. The situation is particularly tense, as the Delhi Police are already on high alert due to the upcoming festival season. Officials have confirmed that an FIR has been registered under the Explosives Act.
As the investigation unfolds, senior police officials, including members of the crime branch and the Special Cell, are closely monitoring the situation. The Delhi Fire Services (DFS) reported receiving a call about the explosion occurring “near the boundary wall” of the CRPF school.
In light of this incident, security protocols across Delhi are expected to be tightened, especially in schools and public spaces, as authorities work diligently to ensure the safety of citizens during this vulnerable time.
