Warangal / Telangana: In an exemplary act of compassion and duty, Duggondi Sub-Inspector Venkateshwarlu and Home Guard Ravinder retrieved the body of an elderly woman who drowned in floodwaters. The incident has garnered widespread praise, highlighting the dedication of the police force during times of crisis.

The deceased, identified as 75-year-old Sammakka from Mandapelli village, tragically slipped into a flooded culvert near a rice mill in Girnibavi village during recent heavy rains. Her body was discovered the following day by locals in nearby agricultural fields.

When Sub-Inspector Venkateshwarlu and Home Guard Ravinder arrived at the scene, they found that none of the onlookers, including her relatives, were willing to assist in recovering the body. Displaying a strong sense of responsibility, the SI and the Home Guard personally carried the elderly woman’s body from the fields to the roadside and performed the necessary legal formalities.

This selfless act by the police officers has deeply resonated with the public, with many expressing their appreciation and respect. “Behind the police uniform lies not just duty, but also compassion,” said a local resident, reflecting the sentiments of many in the area.

Although this incident occurred six days ago, the compassionate response of the police compels us to release this news now. If the police are criticized for their mistakes, it is equally important to appreciate their good deeds.
