I would like to emphasize that the Government of Telangana is for the people and by the people. Hence, our priority is to ensure that all citizens thrive, grow along with the state, and get access to all amenities. I am happy to announce that the Government of Telangana is proactively working on offering incentives for green building projects across the state.”

Komati Reddy Garu expressed his appreciation, stating, “Environmental sustainability is important not just for the IT industry and developers focused on ESG goals, but for everyone. Over the next two years, we are committed to developing our state, aiming to elevate it to a world-class level with top-notch infrastructure. Conditional Approval for Telangana Cabinet Meeting Granted by Election Commission

0

Hyderabad: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has granted conditional approval to the State government to conduct its Cabinet meeting, which is now scheduled for 3 PM on Monday. Chief Secretary A Santhi Kumari issued orders in this regard on Sunday.

However, the ECI specified that discussions on the crop loan waiver and the common capital of Hyderabad are prohibited. In a letter to Chief Electoral Officer Vikas Raj, the ECI stated that the meeting could only address matters of an urgent nature that require immediate implementation.

“The Cabinet meeting may only take up matters which are emergent and urgent and cannot wait till June 4. Accordingly, the agenda items regarding the issue of common capital of Hyderabad and crop loan waiver should be deferred till completion of Lok Sabha elections in the State,” the ECI said. Additionally, officials involved in the conduct of the election should not attend the meeting.

The Cabinet meeting, initially scheduled for Saturday, was postponed due to the absence of ECI permission. With the election code in effect, the State government had earlier requested the ECI to permit the meeting, but there was no response until Saturday evening. The earlier agenda included discussions on the crop loan waiver, paddy procurement, planning for the Kharif season, and other farmer-related issues. Additionally, arrangements for Telangana Formation Day on June 2, pending projects under the AP Reorganisation Act, and other matters were to be discussed.

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy decided to convene the meeting immediately following the ECI’s approval. “If permission is not accorded by Monday, the Cabinet will approach the Election Commission in New Delhi and seek permission,” Revanth Reddy had said on Saturday. The ECI granted the conditional approval on Sunday.

Telangana Begins Rs 2 Lakh Farm Loan Waiver

0

Hyderabad :- Efforts to waive farm loans up to Rs 2 lakh have commenced in Telangana. Officials have instructed the District Central Cooperative Bank, Agricultural Cooperative Societies, and Andhra Pradesh Grameena Vikas Bank (APGVB) to submit lists of eligible farmers. These banks have provided significant crop loans in rural areas. Commercial banks may also be instructed soon to provide lists of eligible farmers.

The Congress government has now announced a new loan waiver initiative. It will waive loans of up to Rs 2 lakh for farmers who took loans between April 1, 2019, and December 10, 2023. This decision aims to support a larger number of farmers across the state.

Previously, the BRS government implemented a phased loan waiver scheme, waiving farm loans of Rs 25,000, Rs 50,000, and less than Rs 1 lakh. However, the BRS government did not waive loans for farmers who had not renewed their loans, leaving many without relief.

Indian Spices MDH and Everest Banned in Nepal Over Pesticide Concerns

0

Kathmandu : – Nepal has imposed a ban on the import, consumption, and sale of powdered spice products from Indian companies Everest and MDH. The move follows reports of ethylene oxide contamination, a chemical classified as a Group 1 carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer.

Mohan Krishna Maharjan, spokesperson for Nepal’s Department of Food Technology and Quality Control, confirmed the ban, stating it was enacted a week prior after preliminary findings indicated the presence of harmful chemicals. “We have also banned the sale of it in the market,” Maharjan said. The ban will remain until final test results are available.

This action aligns with similar measures taken by Hong Kong and Singapore, which have also banned or recalled specific MDH and Everest products due to contamination concerns. Hong Kong’s Food and Environmental Hygiene Department recalled four products: MDH Madras Curry Powder, MDH Sambhar Masala, MDH Curry Powder, and Everest Fish Curry Masala. Singapore’s Food Agency followed suit, recalling Everest’s fish curry spice mix.

The issue has prompted broader international scrutiny. New Zealand’s food safety regulator is currently investigating potential contamination in MDH and Everest products, while the United States and Australia have launched similar probes.

In India, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) recently increased the maximum permissible pesticide residue in spices and herbs from 0.01 milligrams per kilogram to 0.1 milligrams per kilogram. This adjustment has faced criticism and raised concerns about the safety of Indian spices. The Indian government, however, has defended the new standards, calling media reports “false and malicious” and asserting that India’s safety standards are among the strictest globally.

As international scrutiny intensifies, the ongoing investigations will determine the future of Everest and MDH spices in the global market.
