Video Calling Beckons: X (Formerly Twitter) Steps Closer to Becoming an All-in-One App

0

In a significant move, X (formerly known as Twitter) has unveiled plans to incorporate video calling into its platform, envisioning an evolution into an all-encompassing application similar to China’s WeChat.

CEO of X Corp, Linda Yaccarino, revealed to CNBC that users will soon have the capability to engage in video chat calls without the need to divulge their phone numbers to fellow users. Yaccarino also elaborated on upcoming features such as extended video content and creator subscriptions, shedding light on the company’s future intentions in the realm of digital transactions.

Andrea Conway, a designer at X, hinted at the imminent video calling feature with a tweet that read: “Just called someone on X.” Notably, X, under the ownership of Elon Musk, is actively developing a novel function enabling users to categorize posts on profiles.

Just last week, the company unveiled the option for paid subscribers to conceal verification checkmarks on accounts.

Elon Musk, driven by the ambition to transform Twitter into an all-encompassing platform akin to WeChat, declared in October of the previous year, “Buying Twitter is an accelerant to creating X, the everything app.” Musk’s acquisition of Twitter for $44 billion marked a pivotal moment. He further estimated, “Twitter probably accelerates X by 3 to 5 years, but I could be wrong.” Musk’s aspiration for a super app aligns with his conviction that such an innovation is necessary for the modern world. “It’s either convert Twitter to that, or start something new. It does need to happen somehow,” he emphasized in a podcast. During his initial direct interaction with Twitter employees last year, Musk outlined his vision, which encompassed a transformation towards a fusion of TikTok and WeChat’s functionalities, coupled with allowance for “outrageous comments.”

2024 Elections : K Kavitha Declares Candidacy for Nizamabad Lok Sabha Seat, Challenges Opponents in Press Conference

“Ending all speculation, BRS MLC K Kavitha announced on Thursday her decision to contest the upcoming general elections from the Nizamabad Lok Sabha constituency.

She emphasized her commitment to ensuring the defeat of the current MP, Dharmapuri Arvind, no matter which constituency he chooses for the Assembly or Parliament elections. During a press conference held at the BRS Legislative Party office in the Assembly, Kavitha stated that the BJP played no significant role in advancing the Nizamabad Lok Sabha constituency over the past decade.

Contrary to this, she highlighted that the BRS government in the State has remarkably transformed the former Nizamabad district across all domains.

Kavitha criticized the BJP for disseminating false information and engaging in propaganda against the state government.

She pointed out that the Nizamabad MP, Arvind, lacks a proper understanding of the Nizamabad IT Hub’s operations. Kavitha emphasized that while the state government is investing significant funds for the progress of the former Nizamabad district, BJP leaders are preoccupied with spreading unfounded rumors.

Directing her challenge at BJP MP Bandi Sanjay, who has been mocking the consistent power supply in Telangana, Kavitha dared him to personally experience the uninterrupted power supply by placing his finger on the switchboard at the BJP office at any time, day or night. Additionally, Kavitha hinted that Arvind might opt out of contesting from the Nizamabad Lok Sabha constituency due to the risk of losing his deposit.

Instead, he might consider trying his luck from the Korutla Assembly constituency. TSRTC chairman Bajireddy Govardhan and MLA Ganesh Bigala highlighted the new IT Hub in Nizamabad, stating that it would create numerous job opportunities for local youth.

They advised leaders from the Congress and BJP opposition parties to choose their words carefully while making allegations against the BRS government and Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. They cautioned that if such baseless allegations continue, the BRS members would respond proportionately.

Bharat Mata ki Hatya Aapne Manipur mein ki… you are traitor”: Rahul Gandhi Attacks BJP in Lok Sabha / WATCH

0

In a fiery assault within the Lok Sabha against the ruling BJP concerning the Manipur situation, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack, asserting that they had “murdered India in Manipur” and were “traitors not patriots”.

Taking the floor as the first speaker during the resumption of the no-confidence debate on Wednesday, Rahul Gandhi directed his criticism towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi in light of the ethnic violence in Manipur.

Referring to the BJP, which holds authority both at the Centre and in Manipur, he proclaimed, “you killed Bharat Mata in Manipur”. Recalling his visit to Manipur and his interactions with victims of the violence in the state, the Congress leader conveyed that “Bharat” symbolizes the voice of the nation’s people, and that this “voice was killed in Manipur”. He asserted, “Bharat ek awaaz hai, Bharat hamari janta ki awaaz hai, dil ki awaaz hai. Uss awaaz ki hatya aapne Manipur mein ki. Iska matlab Bharat Mata ki hatya aapne Manipur mein ki…You killed India by killing the people of Manipur.

You are a traitor, you are not a patriot,” Rahul Gandhi affirmed. “They killed India in Manipur. Not just Manipur but they killed India.

Their politics has not killed Manipur, but it has killed India in Manipur. They have murdered India in Manipur,” he added. Rahul Gandhi pointed out that the Prime Minister has not visited the northeastern state since it witnessed violence.

“A few days back, I went to Manipur. Our PM didn’t go, not even to this day, because for him Manipur is not India,” Gandhi alleged.

Strong objections arose from BJP members in response to Rahul Gandhi’s allegations, particularly his use of “Bharat Mata” in relation to the Manipur situation. Speaker Om Birla emphasized the importance of displaying respect while referencing “Bharat Mata”. Rahul Gandhi also shared insights into his Bharat Jodo Yatra. “At the outset, when I initiated the Yatra, I considered walking 25 km to be an attainable feat since I run 10 km every day.

Looking back now, it was arrogance. There was arrogance within me during that time. However, India wipes out arrogance, erasing it in an instant. Consequently, within 2-3 days, my knees began to ache due to an old injury.

In the initial days, the lion was reduced to an ant. What I had set out to observe with pride was replaced by humility…” Gandhi shared. This speech marked Rahul Gandhi’s first since being reinstated as a member of the House after his disqualification resulting from a conviction in a Gujarat court’s defamation case.

He also used this opportunity to indirectly address the government regarding the Congress allegations concerning the Adani-Hindenburg issue. “Mr. Speaker, first and foremost, I would like to express my gratitude for your decision to reinstate me as an MP of the Lok Sabha. In my previous address, I may have inadvertently caused you inconvenience by focusing on Adani, potentially causing discomfort to your senior colleague.

This discomfort might have indirectly affected you as well. I extend my apologies to you for that. However, I spoke the truth.

Today, my friends in the BJP should not harbor apprehension because my discourse today is not centered around Adani…” Gandhi stated. This marked Rahul Gandhi’s maiden speech after his re-entry into the House following his disqualification due to a conviction by a Gujarat court in a defamation case.

Last week, the Supreme Court intervened by granting a stay on Rahul Gandhi’s conviction in a criminal defamation case linked to a remark involving the Modi surname. This development led to his reinduction as a member of the Lok Sabha on Monday. On Tuesday, the Lok Sabha initiated discussions on a no-confidence motion against the government

Political Observers Await Rahul Gandhi’s Mangarh Dham Visit on World Tribal Day

In a notable event set for Wednesday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is set to make a visit to Mangarh Dham, situated in Rajasthan’s Banswara district.

This visit aligns with the celebration of World Tribal Day and has garnered attention due to its potential impact on the electoral landscape of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, influencing outcomes in over 25 constituencies.

Mangarh Dham, temporarily transformed into a police cantonment for security reasons, will welcome Rahul Gandhi with traditional fervor, recognizing the area’s tribal heritage. Mahendrajit Singh Malviya, a prominent State Cabinet minister, emphasized the significance of this gesture, stating, “Given Mangarh Dham’s tribal essence, Rahul Gandhi will receive a warm traditional reception.” During his visit, Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to address a gathering in the vicinity.

This assembly will be graced by distinguished figures including Malviya himself, Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Arjun Singh Bamnia, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, and other notable Congress leaders like Govind Singh Dotasra and Sukhwinder Singh Randhawa.

A focal point of the visit will be the appeal for developmental funds for Mangarh Dham, with an emphasis on requesting approximately Rs 100 crore from Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. This allocation is intended to support the advancement and enhancement of Mangarh Dham.

Reflecting on past developments, Malviya noted the unfulfilled expectations of designating Mangarh Dham as a national monument following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit.

Despite those hopes being unmet, the upcoming visit by Rahul Gandhi signifies a renewed effort towards recognition and support for Mangarh Dham’s significance.

As the visit’s implications extend beyond ceremonial observance, all eyes are on this upcoming event, poised to resonate politically across the region.
