Chandrayaan-3 has successfully attained its final lunar orbit and is now gearing up for the imminent separation of its lander, which is set to take place on Thursday.

0

Launched on July 14, Chandrayaan-3 successfully entered the moon’s orbit just 11 days ago. Unlike its predecessor, the mission’s goal is to accomplish what was previously unattained: a gentle landing on the lunar surface in proximity to the South Pole, followed by surface exploration.

Chandrayaan-3, the latest lunar mission by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), successfully attained its final lunar orbit of 153×163 km on Wednesday.

This accomplishment comes after a series of meticulously executed maneuvers that gradually reduced the spacecraft’s orbit and velocity around the moon.

ISRO confirmed the upcoming separation of the lander-rover module from the propulsion module on Thursday. ISRO conveyed, “The time has come for the Propulsion Module and the Lander Module to embark on their independent journeys.” Following the separation, the lander-rover module will initiate preparations for a powered descent to the lunar surface, scheduled for August 23.

Conversely, the propulsion module will remain in its current orbit for approximately three to six months. During this time, it will undertake a scientific mission named Spectro-polarimetry of Habitable Planet Earth (SHAPE), focused on studying Earth’s spectro-polarimetric signatures from its lunar vantage point.

The experiment’s purpose is to investigate the spectral characteristics of a habitable planet, in this case, Earth, which could contribute to the exploration of exoplanets and the search for signs of extraterrestrial life. Chandrayaan-3 was launched on July 14 and successfully entered the moon’s orbit 11 days ago.

The mission’s primary objective is to achieve what its predecessor, Chandrayaan-2, could not—a soft landing near the moon’s South Pole, followed by surface exploration. To ensure the success of Chandrayaan-3, alterations were made to the lander’s design and mission specifications. ISRO Chairman S. Somanath elaborated on the approach, stating, “Unlike Chandrayaan-2, where we designed for success, Chandrayaan-3 follows a failure-based design approach.

We are anticipating potential issues and designing to mitigate them.” Enhancements to the lander’s capabilities include improved maneuverability during descent, an expanded landing area of 4 km x 2.4 km, increased sensor integration, removal of one thruster, and reinforced landing legs to accommodate slightly higher velocities during landing.

Additional solar panels were integrated to ensure mission continuity even if the lander encounters periods without direct sunlight.

Extensive testing was conducted to bolster Chandrayaan-3’s resilience in diverse scenarios. It’s noteworthy that Chandrayaan-2 marked India’s initial attempt at developing a lander and rover for a lunar mission.

The initial plan involved collaboration with Russia for the lander-rover module; however, Russia withdrew due to technological concerns arising from the failure of its Fobos-Grunt mission to Mars’s moon.

The failure of Chandrayaan-2 during its final phase was attributed to a combination of factors. Somanath cited issues with the lander’s engines, which generated slightly more thrust than anticipated. Programming constraints prevented maneuvering during a critical camera-coasting phase, leading to cumulative errors.

Subsequent course corrections were hindered by the spacecraft’s limited software-controlled turning capability. Additionally, conflicting requirements emerged between reducing descent velocity and accelerating towards the desired landing site.

As a result, the lander experienced a higher-velocity impact upon landing. Chandrayaan-3’s mission objectives, design enhancements, and meticulous preparations underscore India’s commitment to lunar exploration and technological advancement in space exploration endeavors

“Hatred and discrimination blind us to the richness of our differences; let’s open our eyes to the beauty of diversity.”

New Delhi: Another disturbing revelation has emerged in the railway shooting incident, which paints a horrifying picture and raises questions about the possible motives behind the brutal act.

It seems as if the killer constable had lost his sanity, or else, how could such intense hatred and venom have consumed him? In any case, this matter demands thorough investigation.

According to a report published in the Indian Express, Constable Chetan Singh Choudhary of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) has been implicated in the shooting of four individuals on the Jaipur-Mumbai Central Superfast Express train on July 31.

The report states that Choudhary had aimed his weapon at a veiled woman passenger and forced her to say ‘Jai Mata Di’ at gunpoint.

This detail has emerged during the ongoing investigation. Citing police sources, the report states that the Government Railway Police (GRP) of Borivali, which is investigating the case, has identified the woman and recorded her statement.

She has been designated as a key eyewitness for the case.

Sources also reveal that the entire incident was captured on the train’s CCTV cameras. Chetan Singh Choudhary shot his senior colleague Assistant Sub-Inspector Takaram Meena and three Muslim passengers, namely Abdul Qadeer Mohammed Hussain Bhansaliwala, Syed Saifuddin, and Asghar Abbas Sheikh, on July 31.

Choudhary initially shot Meena in Coach B5, then shot Bhansaliwala sitting beside him.

Later, he shot Saifuddin in Coach B2 and finally shot Sheikh in Coach S6. Notably, he aimed at the veiled woman passenger in Coach B-3 when Chetan Singh Choudhary was passing through the coaches.

In her statement to the investigators, the woman recounted that Choudhary pointed his gun at her and told her to say “Jai Mata Di” forcefully.

When she did so, he threatened her to say it louder.

The police sources also reveal that when the woman asked Choudhary who he was after removing the gun’s tip from her, he menacingly warned her that he would shoot her if she touched his weapon.

A video of the entire incident leading to the murder went viral on social media.

The voice in the video clip matches the voice of Choudhary, as confirmed by the audio analysis.

Based on these clips and the details provided by the passengers on the train, a case has been filed against Choudhary under sections 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, etc.), 302 (murder), and 363 (kidnapping) of the Indian Penal Code, along with 341, 342 (wrongful confinement), and relevant sections of the Arms Act and the Railways Act.

Farmers Disrupt Railway Track Leading to Chettinad Cement Factory in Tandur: Conflict Erupts Over Compensation

0

The farmers also started venting their frustration using the bulldozer.
Who gave them this idea?

Local farmers in the constituency of Tandur in the Vikarabad district disrupted the railway track leading to the Chettinad Cement Factory, which extends to the boundary of the Karnataka region.

After the incident, both the management of the cement factory and the farmers filed complaints against each other with the local police. According to the details of the incident, a few years ago, the Chettinad Cement Factory was established in the Sangam Kalan area of Tandur Mandal, which lies on the border of Telangana and Carnatic regions.

Railway tracks were laid for transporting cement from the factory a few years ago, and to secure these tracks, positions in Tandur Mandal were acquired.

These included positions in Kota Basupalli, Gubta Basupalli Gunta, Sangam Kalan, and Malkapur, apart from survey numbers 15 and 116 of mineral-rich areas in Malakapur, which is known for its stone deposits.

The Chettinad Cement Factory management had purchased these properties.

Subsequently, contractors completed the task of laying railway tracks in these areas. During the acquisition of land for the railway tracks, a few farmers were deprived of their lands, and the cement factory management compensated them.

However, the management did not compensate the Mineral Workers Union of Malkapur and some farmers. Consequently, for several years, the responsible individuals from the union and farmers have been organizing protests against the Chettinadu Cement Factory management for non-payment of compensation and contractual obligations.

On a sudden note today, the protesting farmers from Basupalli reached the railway track and dismantled it using heavy machinery. This incident occurred at survey number 68, and the tracks were dismantled using JCB machines.

Troubled by this event, the administration of the Chettinad Cement Factory reached the consult Police Station (Goutapur) and filed a complaint against the farmers. In response, the farmers also filed a complaint at the same police station, accusing the cement factory management of delaying and avoiding compensation payments.

Now, this matter has been transferred to the Rural Police Station in Tandur (Goutapur), where investigations are ongoing.
