Historical Mistake: AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi Criticizes India’s Partition

0

In a recent press conference held in Hyderabad, AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi expressed his strong views on the partition of India, labeling it a ‘historical mistake.’ Owaisi, the Lok Sabha MP from Hyderabad, vehemently stated that the division of India should never have happened, emphasizing that historically, India was one united nation that unfortunately got divided.

Addressing reporters, Owaisi argued against the partition, stating, “Historically, this was one country and unfortunately it was divided. It should not have happened. This is what I can say. But if you want, arrange a debate and I will tell you who is responsible for the division of this country… I cannot give a one-line answer for a historical mistake that was committed at that time.”

He recommended reading Maulana Abul Kalam Azad’s book ‘India Wins Freedom,’ where Azad, a freedom fighter and India’s first Education Minister, pleaded with Congress leaders not to accept the partition proposal. Owaisi highlighted Azad’s efforts, saying, “The partition of this country should not have happened. That was wrong. All the leaders who were there at that time, they were all responsible (for partition). If you read Maulana Abul Kalam Azad’s book ‘India Wins Freedom,’ Maulana Azad requested all the Congress leaders then that the country should not be divided.”

Owaisi also claimed that Islamic scholars of that era opposed the two-nation theory, further underlining his perspective on the regrettable historical event.

“Not a Penny Requested for Five-State Elections,” Clarifies Siddaramaiah on Behalf of Congress High Command

0

Mysuru: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has firmly denied claims that the Congress high command has requested financial contributions from the state in the lead-up to assembly elections in five states. He dismissed the allegations as baseless and politically motivated, responding to questions from reporters regarding the BJP’s accusations.

The BJP had alleged that the significant cash amount (Rs. 42 crore) seized during Income Tax department raids in Bengaluru was intended for states, particularly Telangana and Rajasthan, that were facing elections.

Siddaramaiah emphasized that the people of Karnataka would not be swayed by such allegations or protests. When questioned about the money allegedly found in a contractor’s residence affiliated with the Congress party, the CM retorted by suggesting that the contractor had ties to the BJP.

He emphasized that the Income Tax department has performed its duties, and drawing political connections to funds found in someone’s house is not appropriate. The CM further stated that the BJP’s protests were clearly aimed at the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and that there was no need for the state government to conduct a separate investigation.

Siddaramaiah asserted that there was no link between elections in other states and Karnataka’s situation.

Regarding former BJP National General Secretary C.T. Ravi’s allegations that leaders were given fundraising targets, Siddaramaiah dismissed Ravi’s claims as falsehoods, labeling him as a purveyor of baseless statements.

In reference to the power crisis, the CM explained that a shortage of rainfall had disrupted power supply to farmers’ pump sets. The demand for power had increased from 10,000 megawatts to 16,000 megawatts due to the rain deficit. This created a power deficit of 2,000 megawatts in the state, prompting the government to take action to provide five hours of electricity in three phases to prevent farmers from being affected by load shedding.

Siddaramaiah further disclosed that out of 236 taluks, 216 were drought-prone, and crop losses amounted to 42,000 hectares, with a staggering loss of over Rs. 30,000 crore.

Supreme Court Upholds Interim Stay on CBI Probe Against Karnataka Deputy CM Shivakumar

New Delhi: The Supreme Court maintained the interim stay placed by the Karnataka High Court on a CBI investigation involving Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar in a corruption case.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had challenged the high court’s interim stay by filing a petition in the Supreme Court. A bench consisting of Justices Aniruddha Bose and Bela M. Trivedi, while hearing the plea, issued a notice to Shivakumar, asking him to provide his response to CBI’s appeal.

Back in July, the Supreme Court had declined to intervene in the Karnataka High Court’s decision to grant an interim stay on a CBI probe against the Congress leader.

In February, the high court had halted CBI proceedings in a corruption case involving Shivakumar and instructed the investigative agency to submit an action taken report in the case registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act (PMLA). The corruption case was initiated against Shivakumar following an Income Tax Department search in 2017.
