Unexpected Twist Before Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s Medchal Rally: Former BRS MLA and Son Join Congress
Hyderabad – Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao spoke proudly of Telangana’s impressive journey from its historical struggles to becoming a model state in India under self-governance. At a Praja Ashirvada Sabha meeting in Medchal as part of his election campaign, Rao celebrated the state’s achievements and set the stage for the upcoming elections.
Rao noted that the BRS government had silenced its critics and set new benchmarks in development and welfare. He emphasized the state’s incredible progress and development, describing it as a shining example of successful self-governance.
The Chief Minister pointed out that areas like Medchal, Quthbullapur, LB Nagar, and Uppal constituencies have evolved into dynamic regions, attracting a growing population to settle in Hyderabad. To further enhance public infrastructure in these areas, he announced a dedicated budget allocation for the next fiscal year. Rao also lauded the growth of Medchal, which has exceeded expectations since becoming a district headquarters under the BRS government.
Highlighting the successful completion of 26,000 double-bedroom houses in Medchal constituency, Rao announced plans for the construction of another one lakh double-bedroom houses in Hyderabad, as promised in the BRS manifesto, to benefit the underprivileged.
Rao reflected on the hardships faced by the people of Telangana during their time under erstwhile Andhra Pradesh and the struggles for statehood. He discussed the historical lack of electricity, drinking water, and discrimination faced by the region.
Despite these challenges, Telangana has made remarkable progress in various fields and now leads the nation in terms of per capita income and per capita electricity consumption, among other indicators.
The Chief Minister pledged to provide high-quality rice to ration cardholders, as outlined in the BRS manifesto, and gradually increase Aasara pensions. He urged voters to re-elect BRS candidate and Minister Ch Malla Reddy in the upcoming polls.
Rao cautioned the public against opposition parties making false promises and urged them to continue moving forward with optimism for Telangana’s future.
In a surprising development ahead of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s public meeting in Medchal, former BRS MLA Malipeddi Sudheer Reddy and his son, Medchal Zilla Parishad Chairman M. Sharat Chandra Reddy, joined the Congress party.
Mulugu (Telangana) – In a stirring call to action, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi initiated the party’s campaign for the upcoming Assembly elections in Telangana, urging the state’s people to stand against BRS. He unequivocally declared, “A vote for BRS will be a vote for BJP.” Reiterating his assertion of an alliance between BRS, BJP, and MIM, he emphasized that the Congress is engaged in an ideological struggle against the BJP across the nation.
Speaking in Mulugu alongside his sister and Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi after launching the party’s ‘Vijaya Bheri Yatra,’ Rahul Gandhi confidently stated that the grand old party would defeat the BJP in all five states heading to the polls next month and, ultimately, across the entire country. He firmly asserted that the battle in Telangana is between BRS and the Congress, emphasizing that the BJP is already facing imminent defeat in the state.
Rahul Gandhi accused the BJP of covertly supporting BRS in Telangana, highlighting their collaboration with the MIM. He alleged that BRS consistently extended support to the BJP whenever required in Parliament. He further argued that the lack of CBI, ED, or I-T investigations against Chief Minister KCR was a telling sign of the collusion between BRS and the BJP.
Regarding political vendettas and cases against opposition leaders, Rahul Gandhi stressed that the Congress would not compromise with the BJP. He outlined six guarantees recently announced by the Congress and promised to restore rights to Podu lands and assigned lands for the tribal population once in power. Additionally, he pledged that, at the national level, the Sammakka Sarakka tribal festival in Mulugu would be elevated to the status of a national festival.
Rahul Gandhi affirmed the Congress’s commitment to fulfilling promises, highlighting the creation of Telangana state in 2004 as a testament to their dedication to their pledges, even when it meant potential political setbacks. He criticized KCR for failing to deliver on promises like land for every Dalit family and clean governance in the state. He also alleged a scam of Rs.1 lakh crore in the Kaleshwaram project and claimed that lands were seized through the Dharani portal scam.
The Congress leader urged the people to look at Congress-ruled states like Karnataka, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh as examples of fulfilling campaign promises. He praised the healthcare system in Rajasthan as the best in the country and the highest MSP for farmers in Chhattisgarh. Rahul Gandhi concluded by underscoring the Congress’s track record of delivering on its commitments, particularly in Karnataka, where they implemented five guarantees in their first cabinet meeting. Today, women travel free, and farmers and women receive financial support in their bank accounts every month. “We have done what we promised,” he affirmed.
In a significant legal development, a session court in Indore has ruled that an insurance company must pay a substantial compensation of Rs 6.14 crores, inclusive of interest, to the family of a man who tragically lost his life in a road accident.
The victim, Kausar Ali, a resident of Indore, met with the fatal accident on April 4, 2019, at the Sihora bypass in Jabalpur district. The accident resulted in the immediate demise of Kausar Ali. Subsequently, an advocate representing the victim’s family filed a compensation claim in the Indore District Court.
Rajesh Khandelwal, the advocate representing the victim’s family, explained, “The court has mandated that the insurance company must disburse a compensation amount of Rs 4,85,39,000 crore to the family of the deceased, along with an interest rate of six percent on the amount from the date of the claim’s submission. Consequently, the family is entitled to receive a total sum of Rs 6.14 crores, inclusive of interest.”
Elaborating on the circumstances of the accident, Khandelwal disclosed that Kausar Ali was traveling with his family in a car when a collision with a truck occurred. Tragically, Kausar Ali lost his life on the spot during the incident in 2019. Later that year, a compensation claim was filed in court.
“The court has directed the insurance company responsible for the truck to disburse the compensation, along with interest, to the family and the deceased’s wife, Nasreen Bano, within a span of two months. If the insurance company fails to make the payment within the stipulated two-month period, they will be obligated to pay the compensation amount with an annual interest rate of nine percent to the family,” Khandelwal added.
Khandelwal further emphasized that this case appears to be a historic one in the context of Madhya Pradesh, given the substantial compensation amount involved.

New Delhi : In a noteworthy development, the Union Cabinet, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has given its nod for a generous Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) equivalent to 78 days’ wages for eligible non-gazetted Railway employees. This bonus is allocated for the fiscal year 2022-2023 and is poised to bring substantial benefits to a diverse group of railway personnel, including but not limited to Track maintainers, Loco Pilots, Train Managers (Guards), Station Masters, Supervisors, Technicians, Technician Helpers, Points men, Ministerial Staff, and other Group ‘C’ staff. However, it is important to note that Railway Protection Force (RPF)/ Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF) personnel are excluded from this bonus, as clarified in the official press release from the Cabinet.
This landmark decision is a recognition of the remarkable performance demonstrated by railway employees throughout the financial year 2022-2023. The Union Government has earmarked an impressive PLB amounting to Rs 1,968.87 crores, which will be disbursed among approximately 1,107,346 dedicated railway employees, as articulated in the official press release.
The PLB is a direct consequence of the outstanding achievements of the Indian Railways during the aforementioned fiscal year. The Indian Railways marked numerous milestones, including the record-breaking loading of 1509 million tonnes of cargo and the successful transportation of nearly 6.5 billion passengers. This outstanding performance can be attributed to a combination of factors, including substantial infrastructure enhancements resulting from substantial government investments in rail capital expenditure (Capex), improved operational efficiency, and the integration of advanced technologies, among other notable contributions.
The disbursement of the PLB serves not only as an acknowledgment of these remarkable accomplishments but also as a motivating incentive for railway employees to persist in their dedicated efforts aimed at further enhancing the overall performance and efficiency of the Indian Railways, as emphasized in the official press release.
This bonus firmly underscores the Union Government’s unwavering commitment to energizing the workforce and fostering excellence within the realm of railway operations.
Importantly, as the railway sector continues to play a pivotal role in India’s transportation and logistics landscape, this bonus signifies the government’s deep appreciation for the unwavering commitment and dedication of railway employees, who play a crucial role in advancing the nation’s infrastructure and mobility.
The close connection between these developments and the 2023-2024 elections is hard to ignore. It appears that these initiatives are primarily driven by political motives, as they conveniently align with the government’s promises to champion the welfare and aspirations of the people, all in the name of securing votes and winning the election. This seems more like a calculated move to manipulate public sentiment and ensure electoral success rather than a genuine commitment to improving the lives of citizens
