Hyderabad : — A quick-thinking auto rickshaw driver thwarted an attempted kidnapping of three schoolchildren in Hyderabad on Wednesday. The incident occurred when a man attempted to lure two boys and a girl, all residents of Gachibowli, into accompanying him under the pretense of taking them to school.

The children were on their usual route to school when they were approached by the stranger, who convinced them to get into an auto rickshaw, assuring them that he would drop them at their school. Trusting the man, the children agreed and boarded the auto rickshaw. However, as the vehicle veered off the familiar route, the children began to grow uneasy, sensing that something was wrong.

The auto driver, noticing the children’s discomfort and confusion, became suspicious. Realizing that the situation was not normal, he decided to stop the vehicle and seek help. He quickly flagged down a nearby traffic constable and informed him about the children’s concerns and the suspicious behavior of the man accompanying them.

The alertness of the auto driver and the swift response from the traffic constable proved crucial. The constable immediately apprehended the man, identified as Kiran Prasad, and contacted the local Chandanagar police station. Within minutes, a police patrol vehicle arrived at the scene, and the suspect was taken into custody. He was subsequently handed over to the Gachibowli police, as the area where the attempted kidnapping took place falls under their jurisdiction.

The Gachibowli police have registered a case against Kiran Prasad and are currently interrogating him to uncover more details about the incident, including his motives and whether he had any accomplices. The quick response by the auto driver and the police ensured that the children were safely reunited with their families without any harm.

This incident has raised concerns among local residents, highlighting the importance of vigilance and the need for community awareness to protect children from such dangers. The police have commended the auto driver for his prompt action, which played a critical role in preventing what could have been a tragic situation.

Authorities have urged parents and guardians to educate their children about the risks of talking to strangers and to ensure they are aware of emergency procedures. The Hyderabad police have also assured the public that they will continue to prioritize the safety of children and remain vigilant against such criminal activities.
