In a recent development, Meera Yadav, the headmistress of a government school, has been suspended following a controversy over students performing Namaz in the school premises.
The suspension came after leaders of a Hindu outfit protested at the school, situated on Napier Road in Lucknow’s Thakurganj area, where a video circulating on social media depicted students participating in Namaz within the school’s designated “prayer area.”
Tensions escalated as Hindu outfit leaders reportedly created a commotion at the school on Saturday, engaging in a heated argument with Headmistress Meera Yadav. It is worth noting that the majority of students attending the government primary school, which caters to Classes 1-5, belong to the Muslim community, according to official sources.
An official statement released by Lucknow Basic Shiksha Adhikari Arun Kumar announced the suspension of Headmistress Meera Yadav, while also revealing that departmental actions are to be initiated against two teachers, Mamta Mishra and Tehzeeb Fatima, in connection with the incident. This development has stirred a significant debate on religious practices within the educational context, prompting questions about the rights and freedoms of students and school administration.
