[11:18, 20/09/2023] Iftikhar Ali: In a surprising turn of events at Parliament today, Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, who left the Congress three years ago, engaged in a lively conversation with former party president Sonia Gandhi. The interaction occurred during a function held in the historic Central Hall of the old Parliament building.

Mrs. Gandhi was seated alongside Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and the party’s Leader in Lok Sabha, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, in the front row. It was at this point that Mr. Scindia approached them and engaged in a conversation. Later, he took a seat next to Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur.

As the event progressed, Mr. Scindia shifted closer to Mrs. Gandhi, while Mr. Kharge and Mr. Chowdhury vacated their seats to join the distinguished group on stage. This included Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Leader of the Rajya Sabha Piyush Goyal, and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi.

It’s worth noting that Mr. Scindia’s departure from the Congress in 2020, along with 22 MLAs, had led to the downfall of the Kamal Nath government in Madhya Pradesh.

This unique gathering took place in the Central Hall, where members of both the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha came together to commemorate Parliament’s rich legacy
