Chandra Kumar Bose, the grandnephew of the revered Indian freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, has announced his resignation from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Mr. Bose cited several key reasons for his decision to part ways with the party.
Speaking on his departure from the BJP, Mr. Chandra Kumar Bose expressed, “In 2016, I wholeheartedly joined the BJP, inspired by the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. My guiding principles have always aligned with those of my grandfather, Sarath Chandra Bose, and his younger brother, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. They championed ideals that transcended religious boundaries, viewing every religion as inherently Indian. They steadfastly opposed divisive and communal politics.”
Mr. Bose continued by stating that he had offered numerous strategic proposals to both the state and central leadership within the BJP, particularly pertaining to the political landscape in West Bengal. However, he lamented that these proposals were not implemented, despite being recognized as beneficial.
He explained, “When none of my proposals found acceptance within the party, it became increasingly untenable for me to remain affiliated. I am unable to contribute effectively to the party’s objectives. Thus, I have arrived at the conclusion that continuing my association with this party would be counterproductive.”
Mr. Bose concluded by expressing his well-wishes for the BJP and emphasized the importance of fostering unity among all communities. His decision to step down carries significant implications within the political landscape, and it remains to be seen how this development will impact the BJP and West Bengal politics at large.
