In a statement released today by the Synergy Marine Group, it has been confirmed that all 22 crew members aboard the cargo ship involved in the collision with the Baltimore bridge early Tuesday are of Indian nationality. The incident, which occurred around 1:30 am local time, involved the Singapore-flagged container ship “Dali” colliding with one of the pillars of the Francis Scott Key Bridge.
According to the statement, the vessel was under pilotage with two pilots onboard at the time of the collision. Despite the impact, there have been no reports of injuries, and no pollution has been recorded as a result of the incident. The exact cause of the collision is yet to be determined, although the vessel’s Qualified Individual Incident response service has been mobilized.
The Synergy Marine Group has assured that all crew members, including the two pilots, have been safely accounted for. The US Coast Guard and local officials have been notified, with the owners and managers of the vessel fully cooperating with Federal and State government agencies as per an approved plan.
Providing details about the vessel “Dali,” the Synergy Marine Group revealed that it has a capacity of 10,000 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent unit), with 4,679 TEU onboard at the time of the collision. The ship, owned by Grace Ocean Private Ltd, was outbound from Baltimore to Colombo, Sri Lanka.
