Speaking to reporters, Tripta Tyagi explained, “I have made a mistake and I seek apology with folded hands. The video that was made viral was edited and cut. I had no such intentions. In our school, we uphold a sense of unity among students, regardless of their religious backgrounds. We have a diverse community of both Hindu and Muslim students, and we have always strived to maintain harmony.
The principal went on to clarify the circumstances that led to the incident. “There was pressure from the parents of the child to be strict with him,” she revealed. “I am handicapped and cannot move easily. The student in question had not been completing his homework for the past two months, which was a concern for both his parents and teachers. In an attempt to motivate him, I had a few students talk to him, hoping it would encourage him to improve his academic performance.
Tripta Tyagi further explained the linguistic misunderstanding that exacerbated the situation. “What I said was ‘Muhamdan mothers’ must not take their kids to their uncles’ homes as the exam is approaching. But they cut this video and took the ‘Muhamdan’ word out of context.
She acknowledged her lapse in judgment and emphasized her commitment to fostering a safe and nurturing learning environment. “I deeply regret my actions and the pain they have caused. Our school has always been a space where students from all backgrounds are respected and treated equally.
