Ahmedabad: During the World Cup final match between India and Australia, a person wearing a ‘Free Palestine’ T-shirt approached Virat Kohli on the field and has now been taken into custody by Ahmedabad police. The individual, identified as a resident of Australia named Jansen, had a flag in his hand and came close to Virat Kohli, placing his hand on Kohli’s shoulder. This brief disruption in the match prompted security personnel to escort him off the field.

As he was being taken into police custody, the individual revealed that he is a resident of Australia. News agency AI News released a video in which the person identifies himself as Jansen. He claims to have come to the field to meet Virat Kohli.

Expressing support for Palestine, the person stated that he is an advocate for the Palestinian cause. His T-shirt bore the message ‘Stop Bombing Palestine’ on the front and ‘Free Palestine’ on the back. The individual entered the field and approached Virat Kohli.

In the images captured, it can be seen that the person placed his hand on Kohli’s shoulder. During this incident, Kohli appeared visibly uneasy, although he did not react. Later, as security personnel were escorting him off the field, it seemed like he was shouting something.

The incident has sparked discussions on social media, with some criticizing the security lapse. Protests are ongoing worldwide against the ceasefire in Gaza, and pressure is mounting on Israel to immediately halt bombing for humanitarian aid.
