Hyderabad, Jan 3, 2024:– In a shocking revelation, the Jubilee Hills police have apprehended a 30-year-old woman, Sumaiya Sultana, residing in Shastripuram, Old City, for allegedly threatening to frame men with false rape cases and extorting money from them.

The arrest came after a complaint from a car owner who fell victim to Sultana’s extortion attempt. The accused woman would reportedly seek lifts from men, target them in public places across the city, and then exploit the situation for financial gain.

Upon investigation, the police discovered that Sultana was involved in a staggering 17 cases in Hyderabad, making her a serial offender. The modus operandi involved intimidating men after gaining their trust during shared rides, falsely claiming to be a lawyer, and threatening to file rape cases at the police station.

The police, following her arrest, presented Sultana before the court where she was remanded to judicial custody. Subsequently, she has been sent to the Special Prison for Women in Chanchalguda.

This arrest sheds light on the need for heightened awareness and caution, especially in shared transportation scenarios, to prevent individuals from falling victim to such extortion tactics. Authorities are urging anyone with additional information to come forward as they continue their investigation into the extent of Sultana’s criminal activities.
