Ernakulam Central Police have taken legal action against Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar for his controversial social media posts regarding the recent convention centre blasts in Kalamassery. A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed under Section 153 and 153-A of the Indian Penal Code, citing provocation with intent to cause a riot and promoting enmity between different religious groups. Additionally, section 120 (o) of the Kerala Police Act, which pertains to causing nuisance and violating public order through any means of communication, has also been included in the FIR.

Mr. Chandrasekhar’s posts on social media, specifically on X (formerly Twitter), alleged that a particular community was responsible for the multiple blasts in Kalamassery on October 29. He accused the Kerala government of allowing extremist elements into the state and radicalizing its youth. In response, Chief Minister Vijayan criticized the Union Minister for sowing communal discord at a time when the state needed unity in the wake of the bomb blasts. The situation is developing, and legal proceedings are underway.
