According to officials, Colonel Manpreet Singh, Major Ashish, and Deputy Superintendent Humayun Bhat of the Jammu and Kashmir Police were critically wounded during the gunfight and tragically succumbed to their injuries later.

Anantnag, Kashmir – In a grim turn of events, three security personnel, including an Army Colonel, met their tragic end during a fierce encounter with terrorists in the Kokernag area of Anantnag district, Kashmir.

The fallen heroes have been identified as Colonel Manpreet Singh, Major Ashish, and Deputy Superintendent of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Humayun Bhat. They sustained critical injuries during the intense gunfight and succumbed to their wounds.

Tragically, Deputy Superintendent Humayun Bhat lost his life due to heavy blood loss, compounding the sorrow of this operation.

The operation against the terrorists initially commenced in the Gadole area on Tuesday evening but was temporarily halted overnight. Early this morning, it was reignited following reports of the terrorists’ presence at a hideout.

Colonel Singh, displaying exemplary leadership, led his team in a courageous assault against the terrorists. However, he was met with enemy gunfire and suffered critical injuries.

This tragic incident serves as a somber reminder of the immense sacrifice and dedication displayed by security personnel in their relentless pursuit to maintain peace and security in the region.
