Hyderabad : A devastating incident unfolded at an under-construction site in the Kanakamamidi area of Moinabad, Hyderabad, as a slab and side wall collapsed, resulting in the tragic death of two daily-wage construction workers. Additionally, seven others sustained injuries during the mishap on Monday, November 20.
The victims, hailing from Bihar, met with the unfortunate incident around noon. Conflicting reports emerged regarding the nature of the construction project, with some sources suggesting it was an indoor stadium, while DCP (Rajender Nagar) R Jagadishwar Reddy clarified that a large convention hall was under construction.
According to the police, the collapse occurred when a slab and side wall fell on the workers at the construction site. Despite efforts by fellow workers to rescue them from the debris, the two men had already succumbed to their injuries.
In response to the emergency, two teams from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Disaster Response Force (DRF) swiftly reached the scene at 1 pm to expedite the rescue operation. Simultaneously, the injured individuals were promptly transported to a nearby medical center for urgent medical attention.
The Moinabad police registered a case under IPC Section 304 A, citing negligence leading to death. As investigations unfold, questions arise regarding safety protocols at construction sites and the well-being of laborers engaged in such projects.
