Hyderabad : In a strong reaction to the assault on photojournalist Nagara Gopal, the Telangana State Photojournalists’ Association (TSPJA) has demanded the registration of an SC/ST case against the assailant. The incident, where Gopal was severely injured after being hit on the head with a stick by Mahesh Goud (10TV Telugu News stringer), sparked condemnation from TSPJA President Anumalla Gangadhar and General Secretary K.N. Hari.

In an official statement from the TSPJA office in Basheer Bagh, Desoddharaka Bhavan, Hyderabad, the association expressed its deep concern over the attack on Nagara Gopal and strongly condemned the incident at the Neredimet Police Station premises. The TSPJA leaders, along with fellow photojournalists, visited Gopal at Yashoda Hospital in Secunderabad, where he is currently undergoing treatment.

The association called for immediate action against Mahesh Goud, emphasizing that he should be promptly arrested and sent to jail without any leniency from local authorities. Additionally, they urged State Director General of Police (DGP) Anjani Kumar to take stringent measures against individuals who disguise themselves as reporters but resort to violent acts against journalists on duty. The demand for registering an SC/ST case adds a significant dimension to the association’s call for justice in this distressing incident.
