As torrential rain continues to batter Hyderabad and its surrounding areas, the State government has taken precautionary measures to ensure the safety of its residents. In response to the heavy rainfall, a holiday has been declared for all educational institutions in Hyderabad and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts on Tuesday.

Hyderabad district collector, Anudeep Durishetty, announced this important development on X, previously known as Twitter, stating, “Important Announcement: In light of the heavy rainfall forecast in Hyderabad, the government has declared today a holiday for all educational institutions in Hyderabad. Stay indoors and stay safe.”

The Medchal District Education Officer (DEO) also issued a statement in compliance with the Education department’s instructions, declaring a holiday for all schools in the region. However, it was emphasized that the Teachers’ Day award function would proceed as scheduled.

A senior official from the Education department, in an interview with Telangana Today, explained that district collectors have been given the authority to determine school closures based on local weather conditions.

The relentless downpour has led to severe flooding and traffic snarls in Hyderabad, prompting these precautionary measures to ensure the well-being of the city’s residents. Telangana authorities advise everyone to exercise caution, stay indoors, and prioritize safety during this period of heavy rainfall.
