Hyderabad : Telangana’s BC Welfare Colleges are breaking new ground by introducing a range of professional courses designed to shape the careers of aspiring chefs, animators, filmmakers, and professional photographers from BC communities.

The Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Telangana Backward Classes Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (MJPTBCWREIS), overseeing 33 BC Welfare degree colleges, has unveiled these innovative educational offerings for the upcoming academic year.

These pioneering moves include the establishment of a government-sector BC Welfare residential degree college in Sangareddy district, which will become the first institution to offer a BSc in Hotel Management, a program previously exclusive to private colleges in the State.

In Vikarabad district, another newly established BC Welfare residential fine arts degree college is introducing BA (Hons) programs in VFX & Animation, Film and Media, and Photography and Digital Imaging, all in a co-education setting. The Hotel Management course will accommodate 200 students, while each fine arts program will admit 120 students.

A senior official remarked, “In response to student demand, we have decided to introduce professional courses – Hotel Management, Animation, VFX, Film and Media. These courses offer promising job opportunities.”

Moreover, the society is contemplating the establishment of separate law colleges for boys and girls, pending approval from the Bar Council of India. These colleges are poised to offer integrated law programs from the upcoming academic year. The society has already launched agriculture colleges in Karimnagar and Wanaparthy districts, with plans for another in the pipeline.

These transformative additions are part of the 17 new BC Welfare residential degree colleges recently sanctioned by the State government, bringing the total to 33, with one in each district. Alongside professional programs, the other degree colleges will continue to offer traditional courses, including BSc (MPCS), BSc (BZC), BCom, and BA.

As admissions to these newly-opened degree colleges are now open, prospective students have the opportunity to embark on their educational journey in these pioneering institutions.
