Sources reveal that the Telangana government has finalized this decision to enlist Akbaruddin Owaisi as the pro-tem speaker for the Assembly proceedings scheduled on December 9.
The term “pro-tem” originates from Latin, signifying “for the time being.” As a temporary appointee, the pro-tem speaker’s primary duty is to oversee the swearing-in of newly elected MLAs during the inaugural assembly session. Typically, the senior-most member of the assembly is bestowed with the pro-tem speaker role, making Akbaruddin Owaisi the likely choice for this responsibility.
Having recently secured his position for the sixth consecutive term, Akbaruddin Owaisi has been representing the Chandrayangutta assembly constituency since 1999.
