Hyderabad :The Rachakonda police force is leaving no stone unturned in ensuring foolproof security arrangements for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023 matches scheduled to take place at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium on Friday, Monday, and Tuesday.

A contingent of approximately 1,500 personnel, comprising members of the Rachakonda Police, Telangana State Special Police, Armed Reserve, Central Crime Station, and traffic police, will be deployed, with additional riot control forces on standby.

Addressing the media on Thursday, Rachakonda Police Commissioner DS Chauhan affirmed that every possible measure is being taken to guarantee the safety of spectators and cricket teams, regardless of their nationality or affiliation.

The stadium is under constant surveillance, with high-definition surveillance cameras covering every inch. Commissioner Chauhan warned, “High-definition surveillance cameras closely monitor every individual. Any antisocial activities will result in severe consequences.”

A total of 360 CCTV cameras have been strategically installed in and around the stadium, including at vehicle checkpoints and parking areas. A joint command and control room has been established at the stadium to monitor surveillance footage and take immediate action. “Anti-sabotage checks, with the assistance of bomb detection teams, will continue round-the-clock until the matches are completed,” Chauhan stated.

An efficient communication system has been set up, with VHF sets allocated to every sub-inspector and higher-ranking officers for swift response. Police check-posts are being established at all stadium entry points to conduct anti-sabotage checks and person frisking.

Special teams are being deployed to monitor the activities of potential troublemakers, and mobile phone technicians will be stationed at each gate to inspect spectators’ mobile devices. Accreditation card exchange is strictly prohibited, with legal action taken against any violations.

To combat harassment, SHE Teams have been deployed in and around the stadium, and vigilance teams will monitor vendors and their adherence to authorized pricing.

Commissioner Chauhan urged spectators to enjoy the matches with a sportsman’s spirit and display the cultural etiquette (“tehzeeb”) of Hyderabad to the world. “While supporting your team, please be mindful of your fellow spectators’ personal space and refrain from causing any disturbances,” he emphasized.
