Patna : The notorious sand mafia operating in Jamui is turning the region’s roads into death traps, as over-speeding sand-laden vehicles continue to wreak havoc. In yet another tragic incident on Friday, a speeding truck, laden with sand, struck down Sachin Turi in Jinhara Bazar on the Kohbarwa-Jhajha road. This marks the third such fatality in the last four days.
The latest victim, Sachin Turi, was on his way to the local market when the speeding truck plowed into him and callously fled the scene. This incident follows two previous tragedies, with SI Prabhat Ranjan and home guard Jawan Rajesh Kumar Saw losing their lives to a speeding sand-laden tractor on Tuesday. Another incident on November 15 claimed the life of teenager Aayush Kumar, while his friend Rakesh Kumar suffered critical injuries after being hit by a speeding truck.
Local residents, alarmed by the escalating fatalities, gathered at the site of the latest incident to protest against the sand mafia’s blatant disregard for road safety. Demands for the immediate arrest of the reckless driver echoed through the crowd.
The incidents highlight a dangerous pattern of sand mafia vehicles disregarding road rules and endangering lives. In each case, the drivers chose to flee the scene, leaving victims in their wake. The SI and home guard were mowed down while on duty, signaling a dire need for increased vigilance and enforcement measures against the sand mafia’s brazen actions.
As Jamui roads continue to witness the lethal consequences of over-speeding sand-laden vehicles, calls for stringent actions against the sand mafia and improved road safety measures grow louder. The community is left mourning the loss of innocent lives caught in the crossfire of this ongoing menace.
